My city Hotel in Kandy

Not recommended. The room was not as shown in the photos, and the bathroom had a bad smell. The coffee packets provided were expired. We could also hear loud noises from the bathroom of the room above us. Not worth for the money spent.

Not recommended-Completely different from the photos

We had a very bad experience with this hotel. The property is completely different from the photos shown on websites and in TikTok videos. There is zero safety and zero hygiene, and it does not even meet the standards of a two-star hotel.

The place is hidden inside a building with no proper signage, no parking facilities, and no proper reception. We had to ask people around just to locate the hotel. It honestly feels like they have paid social media content creators to promote this place, which is very misleading.

We could not stay even three hours at this property and had to book another hotel despite paying the full amount here. We did not ask for a refund; we checked out purely because staying there did not meet our basic standards.

I have to be honest about our experience. The AC in our double-bed room wasn’t working, and there was an unpleasant smell as soon as we walked in. My mum is elderly and nearly slipped because the floor on Level 3 was wet. Even after we notified staff, no bucket was placed and the water wasn’t cleaned up.

The towels provided were not up to standard, so we ended up having to buy our own. The stairs were also not clean, and overall the room and facilities felt poorly maintained. If it weren’t for the bad weather and the fact we arrived late at night, we would have checked out immediately. Instead, we left as early as we could the next morning.

The photos on the website are very misleading and do not match the actual state of the hotel. I strongly recommend updating or removing them so future guests don’t have the same experience.

On a positive note, the staff were nice and the bathrooms were clean, but unfortunately this wasn’t enough to make up for the issues we faced.

Not Recommended – Very Disappointing Experience

We had a terrible experience at this hotel and would not recommend it to anyone.

The photos shown on the website were completely different from what we saw in reality. The room we were given was not the one we booked, and it lacked the basic facilities that were clearly mentioned online.

The manager (Kasun) and the reception staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. Even though we chose not to stay due to these issues, they refused to refund our money. We had to contact Agoda customer service ourselves and spent over 3 hours waiting outside the hotel for a resolution. It was around 8.30 PM in Sri Lanka, and we finally left the hotel at midnight after receiving confirmation from Agoda.

The staff acted as if the mistake was ours, showing no sense of responsibility or empathy. Dear hotel owner, please train your team on basic customer service they are badly treated us.

We had planned this trip to Kandy to celebrate my birthday and visit several places, but the experience at your hotel completely ruined it. While it may seem like a simple cancellation to you, it was a special day for us.

Hotel is near to the railway station. Convenient. Since these days having power cuts, we had to suffer from that. Hotel did not inform us earlier that they don’t have a generator. And I asked for reduce the rate since they didn’t say that earlier. Bcoz we had to change our plans due to that. They charged full amount. Room was clean and tidy. But there were rats in the ceiling. They are making huge notices, cannot sleep properly.
