The Grand Kandyan in Kandy

I saw some negative reviews about this hotel but chose to ignore them -that turned out to be a big mistake. This was the worst experience of my entire trip.

At first, I was impressed. The room looked beautiful, almost like a palace. However, the problems started soon after. The main issue was a terrible smell coming from the bathroom. I reported it to the staff, and while they tried to help, their solution was to move me to another room that was even worse.. it had blocked windows and the same unpleasant smell.

We initially agreed that I would keep my belongings in the original room and only sleep in the second one. But when I realized the smell there was just as bad, I decided to return to my original room.

Then, around 11:00 PM, the situation became completely unacceptable. An employee entered my room without permission -likely to check the bathroom issue, but without any notice or knocking. He walked straight into the bathroom while I was inside, naked.

You can imagine how disturbing and unacceptable that was. This is a serious violation of privacy and basic hospitality standards.

I am currently consulting with a lawyer regarding this incident.
