Sophia Hotel in Dar es Salaam

First stay my bedside table was covered in something sticky. This stay the front desk had to call someone to see if my airport taxi was actually booked and they stapled my bags when I left them for the day? (They put a paper on it, to mark it’s mine) It’s just small holes but come one, why damage someone’s property? And they left them out in an open area where, yes there was the reception desk, but I don’t think there was someone there the whole time.
The first time I told them about the airport taxi the day before, I said my flight is at 11pm the next day and I will inform them about the pick up time when I check out the next day. Then at 5:30 in the morning I had a person knock at my door for the taxi??? I am assuming it was because in Swahili 11 means 5 (in terms of time) but that still leads to the question if they were even listening to me as a flight at 5 would have required a pick up earlier than 5:30??? Also they should assume that a European foreigner will not tell them time in Swahili.
Location is very good and central, but therefore loud. Good view of the city as well. If you’re staying in the rooms on the floor adjacent to the breakfast area be prepared for noise starting at around 6 am. Well the stay actually wasn’t too bad, but the end with the damage and taxi threw me off.
