Location not the best rough road to get there through a local village but once you arrive beautiful property great rooms it was my birthday and they had set up the room which was very much appreciated friendly staff No alchohol served on premises but you can walk outside to a local resturant if you want a drink. Nice clean pool and clean beach for morning walks. 10 minute drive to five star properties nearby if you want change of scenery(went to seacliffresort for a sundowner)

Royal Cliff Zanzibar is a peaceful seaside resort in Chuini, offering breathtaking ocean views, spacious rooms, and warm hospitality. The staff are exceptionally friendly, the pool area is relaxing, and the overall vibe is quiet and romantic — perfect for couples or anyone seeking a tranquil escape.

While the access road is a bit rough and the beach changes with the tides, these small details are outweighed by the resort’s comfort, cleanliness, and stunning sunsets. Highly recommended for a calm, scenic, and value-for-money stay in Zanzibar.

It’s a nice place for people who loves quiet places away from the city and a lot of people. The rooms are nice and the food is great if you love spices but they take orders and booking for family outings.

The gardens are lovely and very well kept. The staff all extremely friendly and helpful . The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast was adequate but not great. The gym - as shown in their picture - is non-existent. The rickety old building that supposedly housed it is, as we - and apparently others before us - were told “being repaired”. Both our bedside lights were not working and the staff were advised of this but neither had been repaired by the time we left. Unfortunately the biggest drawback is the location. The hotel is about 2 kilometres off the beaten track on a narrow dirt road and guests are mostly confined to the hotel grounds. The not very impressive beach is inaccessible at high tide. We had a strong feeling of “cabin fever” and consequently cut our stay in half and sacrificed the payment previously made.

This place is amazing and an oasis of tranquillity inside the perimeter. The only negative thing is the distance from the airport and the abysmal road leading to it, broken and with massive potholes all along. Made getting there a bit of a nightmare and not a road you want to travel more than once a day, making leaving the hotel to go and see the local attractions a bit inconvenient!

Amazing hotel
The hotel is beautiful and the views are wonderful. The road to the hotel is rough but that doesn't bother me. The beds need to be more comfortable. They are a little too hard for me. Other than that everything else was great!

The drive up from the main road to the hotel is on a very rural road. Don't worry though as when you arrive at the hotel the drive was worth it. It is amazing. The staff are all so friendly and cannot do enough to help you and make the experience amazing. We came for my 50th birthday and wow did they spoil me. Beautifully decorated bed, table out on the veranda for dinner and a birthday cake and singing for me. Wow. They made a special birthday even more special. I was lost for words. The rooms are amazing. Huge and with lovely views very spacious. The pool is great...a fantastic sea view. The restaurant has amazingly tasty food all cooked fresh. We cannot recommend this hotel enough. If we ever come back to zanzibar...you will be our first choice to stay at! Thanks so much for an unforgettable experience.

We booked Royal Cliff at the last minute and arrived an hour after booking. Upon arrival welcome drinks were ready for us and we were promptly showed to our suite. The room was spacious enough and the bathroom was very clean. Air conditioning was a bonus and we had no issues during our stay. The staff would call at lunch and dinner times and ask if we would like a menu bought to our room or if we would be joining them directly at the restaurant. The food was always fresh and portions were very generous! The swimming pool was always well-maintained and clean. Luckily for us there weren’t many guests which meant we had the pool to ourselves! Location-wise it is very centrally located- roughly 45 minutes either way to stone town or Nungwi. If you are thinking of staying here I would highly recommend it! Thank you for being so welcoming and making us feel at home!
