Koh Tao View Cliff Resort in Koh Tao Island

Myself & my partner stayed here for 3 nights. The only redeeming quality is the location of the hotel and the service of reception staff. The hotel is close enough to Sairee Beach for a short walk to bars/restaurants/beach, but close enough away from the immediate hustle and bustle. The hotel will arrange a shuttle from the pier to the hotel for you. We also paid 300 baht for the hotel shuttle to take us back to the pier. The actual hotel was run down and looks like it needs a re-investment. There was mold in the bathroom, and wood was starting to rot on the balcony. You can hear noise from a neighbouring bar which can be distracting. We booked a snorkelling tour through the hotel reception which was easy enough and was an enjoyable trip. Overall, we wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We stayed at Cliff View Resort, Koh Tao and were very disappointed.

• Upon arrival, the bed linen was dirty.
• The drain right next to the toilet overflowed several times – extremely unhygienic and unpleasant.
• There were ants all over the room, even in the food at breakfast. In addition, we found hair in the food – absolutely unacceptable.
• A gecko was in our room and had to be removed by three staff members.
• Even after cleaning, the room remained dirty, and the ants never disappeared.
• The hotel offered us a 1-hour late check-out and a free taxi, but the pier is only about a 5–10 minute walk away and easily reachable.

We reported these issues several times. However, we only received these small gestures – there was no real compensation for the massive hygiene problems.

In addition, the staff was often unfriendly and disinterested (yawning when asked something, constantly on their phones). The only exception was the manager, who really tried her best.

We paid for a clean and functional hotel room, but instead we faced daily problems and unhygienic conditions. We therefore cannot recommend this hotel at all.

Even Agoda, our travel agency, refused to help us and offered no fair solution.

Worst hotel I have been in Koh Tao so far
The location is the only good feature
Rooms are old and smell like damp.
Water leakage in the air con and in the bathroom ceiling. Bedding is damaged and not comfortable.
Swimming full of hazards..
Hardly any service.
We asked to move room and the one that was proposed to us was as bad 😅
We asked for a commercial gesture, which was denied. We were simply told to contact booking.com to sort it with them…
Really bad experience as a family
