Baan Pomphet in Ayutthaya City

We did not stay here, but our tour group stopped here for lunch. The food was okay, but it failed to impress as a Michelin restaurant. We had better food at Sook Siam.

An excellent hotel. Comfortable room with good amenities and a lovely shower. Very relaxing day bed on our outside terrace and delightful shared plunge pool. Breakfast is superb with delightful Thai and western options. Restaurant also very good with atmospheric terrace in the evenings. View of the river is great for barge and boat watching. The staff make it 5 star and were happy to book us tuk tuks every day and a taxi for onward travel. Overall very good value

Right on the river........comfy room with top notch shampoo etc, we always travel light and therefore we appreciate good quality, thoughtful extras in the bathroom. There's a Nespresso machine if that's your thing, but it's a juggle to make a cup of tea, however perseverance pays off. Our room was directly in front of the pool, there are only 8 rooms, I think three are at ground level which was the best spot. Dinner and breakfast were superb, the restaurant is in the Michelin Guide book; you'll love it! Fabulous help from the front office, a lady with gorgeous hair (how is it possible in that humidity?) and excellent English looked after all our needs.

This is a very different and unique hotel ,right on the river. There are great views of the river and a wide array of boat traffic to observe. The rooms are smaller than we expected. The bathrooms were good, but some maintenance and upkeep had been deferred. The bed was located in a corner, so the person next to the wall either slithered out the bottom or crawled over their partner, if they had to use the washroom during the night. Not a good situation for us older people. The full service restaurant was excellent with great food, a wide selection on the menu and full service. The hotel is not within walking distance of most shopping and / or restaurants, but only a short boat ride away. Would need to hire a water taxi to get to these other locations. As older people, this is a very good hotel, but we would not say a great hotel. Would recommend.

We really enjoyed our lunch here. We were taken to this restaurant by our tour guide on a private tour to Ayutthaya from Bangkok and loved the food. The fishcakes were exceptional, as was the tamarind prawns. We also had crab curry and a vegetable dish. We wanted to try the taro dumplings but they were sold out. We were too full for dessert.

We stayed here two nights. It is the quirkiest reception I have ever seen as it was a room with you outside under an umbrella checking in. The whole place is brick themed, I suppose to reflect the old city ruins which is why people come here. They have about 8/10 rooms which are comfortable enough but a little cramped. A small swimming/plunge pool which has no privacy from the restaurant. This place is really all about the restaurant which served very good Thai food with excellent ingredients. This is carried over into the breakfast which you needed to order the night before. Again quality of ingredients was evident with some of the best croissants I have had outside France and actual sourdough bread. Great location by the river. Not the cheapest hotel on our trip but the food made it worthwhile. Parking is restricted but the attendants reserved places for guests which was great.

Lovely hotel. Lovey restaurant staff. They are very friendly . Also,security staff was very helpful. Room and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast and diner was great and serve food at same time. My mother love boiled rice with shrimp so much!!

This boutique charmer of a hotel is a welcome break and refreshing addition to this ancient town which was devoid of any kind of fancy accommodations a few years back. LOCATION: Just a few minutes away from all the key points of interest and located on the banks of the legendary Chao Phraya river DINE + DRINK: Lovely bar & bistro with a spectacular terrace setting that comes loaded with million dollar views. A great place for a sundowner as well as a chilled out meal! ROOM: We stayed in Room 8, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Lovely views of the river from the sit out/balcony attached to the room from one end and of the fortress from the other windows in the room ; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Excellent spa quality cosmetics FACILITIES: No Gym on site, but they do have a cute little pool with views of the river SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of.
