Parn Dhevi Riverside Resort & Spa in Sam Phran

I almost never feel strongly enough about a place to review it, but ParnDhevi was an exception. We were quick to get out after one awful night here. To boil it down:
* Though it sits on a river, there is nowhere to sit and enjoy it except the restaurant, which is anything but relaxing due to the music, noise, and overpriced food;
* The rooms are accessible only by crossing standing water using a wooden walkway in a terrifying state of disrepair. Luggage and children should be carried, and even without them, care must be taken to avoid tripping.
* Inside, our room was filthy: the floor covered with red ants, surfaces covered in dust and lizard droppings, and the hard mattress made with old linens. The whole thing was run down and uncomfortable, and both my wife and son were bitten by bugs.
* The detached bathroom was open to the air with no screens, with the predictable outcome that it had mosquitoes, ants, and other bugs. It was also unclean, the shower head was old and crusty, and the nice, deep bathtub was useless because the hot water didn't work. The whole thing was also lit by a single bare efficiency bulb, making it dingy.
* No WiFi in most rooms, and a small, unappetizing breakfast of a single egg with a couple slices of deli meat, toast, and instant drink mix. When we asked about getting another serving due to the small portion, we were given the ludicrous price of 200 THB for another.
* For this awful one-night experience, we paid 2000 THB. I have lived in Thailand a long time, and stayed at many budget hotels; and I would still have been come away angry even if I'd paid half that price.

The only good thing I can say is that the lady working the desk was very nice, and did her best to make things work. But everything else about the experience was awful.
