HH Babil Konağı in Mardin

The room wasn’t the same as our reservation. They gave us a room in basement, without window and very tiny stairs. We did not accept the room. They gave us another room in ground floor. We had cockroaches in the room. Toilet seater was broken, air con wasn’t working. House keeping was terrible.

As a solo-female traveler staying alone, one evening the door to my hotel room suddenly opened and a male staff member came in while I was not available / not in a suitable situation. What’s more, there was a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and music playing inside. It triggered my safety concerns enormously. In a hotel where I paid 120 euros for two nights (at 3,000 TL per night) — a place considered relatively good compared to its alternatives, a scandal like a man being able to enter my room out of nowhere is unacceptable. They say the reception told him the room was empty. I also left feedback for management. I remember locking the door as well, unless a master key/card can open it directly. Even if I somehow missed locking it, this is still an unacceptable situation. Yes, the location is very good and the rooms are warm in winter, and they did apologize but what made me even angrier was that, after I had already paid and had breakfast, while I was making small talk with another staff member during checkout. He said, “I wish you’d delete that comment.” Instead of acknowledging that I’m the victim, they were basically explaining how I had made them the victim. As men, they clearly cannot empathize with me at all. For this reason, I decided to move my review to Tripadvisor. The emotional pressure they put on me to delete my comment is unacceptable

It was definitely a very bad experience. The rooms heated by air conditioning were extremely cold. We had a terrible night. The cleanliness and service were also below average.

We went to stay for 2 days. I have never seen such a bad, indifferent accommodation in my life. We had booked a bed and breakfast. They said our room was not available. We could not go out to the terrace in the evenings because the weather was cold. They did not even have a place to sit and drink tea or coffee. When we asked the reception, they said there was construction. If there is construction, please mention this at first. We were not satisfied at all. I do not recommend it to anyone. Even the breakfasts were always the same. Do not spoil your holiday. Go to another hotel.
