Oryx Hotel in Abu Dhabi City

Aside from the location, the hotel wasn't very satisfying. When we arrived, there was a towel missing, and the pillow was dirty. We called the reception to ask for a pillow and a towel, but we had to go down to the reception in person to get them. The new pillow they gave us was also dirty. The breakfast room was quite dirty, and the buffet was running out an hour before breakfast service ended.

Check-in and everything else was smooth, and the room was clean. However, the lobby had a very unpleasant perfume smell. Also, the hallway and room reeked of cigarette smoke. There are plenty of cafes nearby, so I was glad I didn't opt for the breakfast, as I imagine the quality wouldn't have been great.

This Oryx Hotel is a long time serving Abu Dhabi . I is a solid choice for both holiday and business guests . I arrived very late to the hotel for check in . The staff at the front desk were pleasant and checked me in very quickly.

Snx the room was very spacious with good aircon and fast WiFi . The breakfast staff are nice and the breakfast was just ok I taught basic but did the job . Nice Irish pub next door good food and price was fair . Overall if you want to be in the city this is a solid choice .

The hotel itself is nice: clean rooms, friendly staff, good housekeeping, and a convenient location. I honestly enjoyed my stay overall. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is an unusual and uncomfortable situation I witnessed in the lobby on my last evening.

There was a woman crying, with a hospital wristband and only her passport. The story was unclear and may well have had complications, but I was surprised by how the manager handled it.

He refused to call the police or the embassy, even though she clearly needed some sort of official help. He simply said he would “wait for her to leave,” which didn’t feel appropriate. His comment about “Russian women” also made me uncomfortable as I am Russian myself.

I understand that not every guest situation is straightforward, and I don’t excuse the behaviour of that woman if she caused trouble before. But the way it was handled — openly, in front of other guests, without any professional procedure — felt wrong and created an unpleasant atmosphere.

Besides this, the hotel was very good, although the swimming pool is quite small.
