I stayed here on my own for 2 nights in December and is thought it was lovely.
Victorian building, with plenty of charm, features and creaks, letting you know how old and well maintained it is.
My room was plenty big enough for me, a lovely comfortable bed, heating, TV, everything I needed really. Bathroom was good, all worked perfectly, no problems at all.
Location is great, short walks to different parts of the city, very easy. And easy for train station too, 10 -15 min walk away.
Will be looking to stay here again when I next visit Cambridge.

The hotel is neat and clean, and so is the room. The receptionist was also able to help me change my rooms so I could have both rooms near each other. The only downside, perhaps, was the inability to serve an omelette, as I paid for an oriental breakfast, so I was a bit expecting that for my son. But overall, it's a great alternative to enjoying Cambridge! They also have car parks, and just ask them anything about Cambridge!

The traditional British-style exterior is very charming, with well-tended seasonal flowers beautifully adorning the entrance. The rooms are not spacious, but they are compact, cozy, and fully functional. Despite its excellent access to the center of Cambridge, it offers accommodation at a very reasonable price, making it a truly valuable find.

First of all, I'd like to thank them for their hospitality. They were friendly and courteous throughout my week-long stay. My room was clean, and they were helpful when I needed anything. I thought the hotel's location was excellent; I had easy access to everything. If I ever go back to Cambridge, it will definitely be my preferred accommodation. We were only here 1 night and although the bedroom and the shower room were very small they were clean and well equipped and absolutely fine. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful too. I'd be happy to book this hotel again.

Lovely central hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. It’s in an old building so a little creeky and noisy but that didn’t bother our stay.

The room was small and there was a lot of limescale in the kettle. The service was good, with a waiter carrying the luggage downstairs. This was a great help for guests in rooms without elevators.

Pretty poor service over the Christmas period - they don't seem to be able to cope when there's a few large parties in.

The waitress we had was nice enough, but it took 45 minutes for anyone to take a drinks order. We asked after half an hour, but it took a further 15 minutes for anyone to come. A second order never turned up at all - they simply forgot.

Food was alright generally, but steak ordered rare turned up well done - given the difficulty getting anyone over, it didn't seem worth the effort of complaining.

Had better experiences in the past. If you can't cope with the number of people, don't take the bookings.

Wow! This place has changed for the better. We used to eat here a lot, but over time it became a terrible restaurant to go to.

We were passing by this weekend and decided to just go in for a drink. The bar team were so friendly and recommended some great drinks. They also convinced us to get a table in the restaurant, and we're so glad they did, this place is back on form and we had an exceptional evening. We will be back again.

A very cosy and comfortable restaurant with amazing food at affordable prices! We ordered 2 mains for dinner - a lamb steak with red wine sauce and a crab and prawn linguine with pesto sauce. I personally don't take lamb, but my husband commented that it was one of best he had. The linguine was nicely done with chunks of prawns and crab meat.

The waiters were very friendly as well, making small chats with us and even took the initiative to offer a change of my pasta sauce from coriander to basil, knowing that many do not like the taste of coriander.

We also had brownie with ice-cream for dessert and it was great too. the brownie was warm and moist, and the ice-cream had honey flavoured crispy bits sprinkled all over it which gives it a nice texture.

An overall great experience!

Follow up: went back to Browns another 2 times subsequently. Photos added!

I visited Browns yesterday for the first time in a few months and had drinks with two friends. Although very busy with a large group of drinkers surrounding the bar we were seen to very promptly and our drinks were very nice and outstandingly presented. There seems to be a change of bar staff whom are doing the reputation of Browns the justice it deserves.

The bar lounge was being used by a group so there wasn't much in the way of seating but the helpful and charming bar manager not only found us a table but delivered service at our table throughout the visit, weaving his way through the crowd all the while.
The atmosphere was amazing for a Thursday!
Well done Browns - much better than the previous visit and I shall certainly be back.

I went here last Sunday to try out a Sunday roast. For the price I paid for a beef Sunday roast and drink, the food was underwhelming. The meat seemed gamey and chewy like I was given end scraps which wasn't nice to eat. It did not look or taste freshly prepared. The chips were chewy and did not seem newly fried which was a disappointment. I can go to a pub around the corner and get better ones for a more reasonable price to portion ratio.

The service was abysmally slow and when I looked around most of the other tables had a pitcher of water but my server didn't even offer me one. I'm not sure if this was because I also got a drink (very small amount though I would say and I had to ration it out to make sure I would have some to accompany my food). The drink and veggies were good which is basically what saved this review.

Note, there is a compulsory service charge on your bill.

I wish I had a better experience and I probably won't be coming back here because my server didn't really do much to warrant the service charge percentage they added (maybe this is why they have it to cover their bases). Unfortunate since it did look nice and inviting inside, and it's around the corner from where I live.

Came here on a Saturday night whilst staying in Cambridge. It was absolutely packed but the owner squeezed us in. Our waiter Ricky was absolutely lovely. The starters were excellent bread selection and olives and the vegetarian risotto was fantastic. Also try out their cocktails! They have a raspberry mule which is their own creation. Service was really lovely. A little slow but understandable as it was a very busy sat. They also have live music upstairs from about 9/10ish.

One of my favourite restaurants and bars! Consistently wonderful food, service, friendly staff. This is where I bring friends who visit on a weekend- we'll have dinner and then go up to the piano bar for cocktails and live piano music.

10/10 for venue, service and food. Ordered off menu starter and was obliged without any fuss. Ordered steak well done and it was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. I am 50 years old and have been for many meals and can honestly say this was one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Both me and my wife enjoyed this evening very much. I never write reviews but thought tonight was something I could not keep to myself. Perfect evening!!
