Reviews
EDIT: this review was written BEFORE checking out of the room.
On checkout reception had 10 of what were described as "people dropped off at 5am in a coach from Sweden" lying about asleep sprawling over the chairs in reception. I spoke to the staff member on the desk to let her know a review had been left, however THAT was not a good look to prospective customers as it definitely lowered the tone the hotel were trying to set. (None looked Swedish, more Eastern European looking with mid tone skin and black hair).
To that end, I will NOT now be returning to the hotel, but it is only fair to leave the positive review I have already typed. I cast no aspersions, I simply think letting a large group of people slump all over the reception area comes across as low class and borderline intimidating to others. This was very unfortunate to have happened on checkout, but it does show how a person's stay and overall view of a hotel can be changed by one thing happening.
Please dont be put off by this which is probably a "one off", as the hotel itself (and staff) are very very good and professional.
There seemed to be ample parking, but both nights that we returned from supper about 8:00pm, the lot was full of vans and there was no where to park. The staff were helpful in my finding on street parking, but it was a very narrow street and I was concerned about my rental car getting side-swiped.
Staff and management very good and wait staff polite and had a lovely manner. Breskfast good.
Shower head in room needs some attention as appears to have build up of dirt or something on it.
We may well stay again. Certainly better than many we have stayed in
I found out that the agency platform charges about 30% more.
The community hotel has no elevator, so I had to carry my luggage up by myself.
Then I found out that the room was so small that I couldn't unfold my suitcase to take things.
The breakfast was a typical British breakfast, which was enough to fill my stomach.
What I couldn't accept was that there was no place to put my luggage after I checked out, and they said they were not responsible for the safety of my luggage. No one looked after my luggage, which was really unexpected.
Finally, the old lady suggested taking my suitcase to a locker at the station and spending a few dollars to store it. The actual result was that Chester Station didn't have this service. I was stunned!
There are two other hotels 3 minutes away from the station, such as Lloyd Hotel, which is better, and the actual price is about 55~60 pounds.
