Reviews
The location is exceptional, around the corner from everything you want to see.
The staff is very kind and accommodating and they definitely made our stay pleasant.
However the state of the hotel does not justify the price point.
Firstly, the pictures shown online are not representative of what you will likely end up getting; an old, small room which at times felt a bit unclean. They photographed one nice room and that’s all you will see online of this hotel.
The furniture is very old fashioned and needs to be replaced, the bed is small and with a hard mattress and very uncomfortable pillows. The room has multiple stains (even on the bed sheets) and a wallpaper that is peeling off.
The bathroom shower doors are crusty, water pressure very low, multiple rusty spots everywhere.
The building is pretty old, charming, however can get quite noisy in the room (though we did not particularly mind it).
Good heating system and we had plenty of coffees, teas, cookies, lots of free waters too. The room has a smart tv which is also a nice plus.
Unfortunately not worth the money and felt a bit scammed by the pictures online
The staff were friendly and helpful.
We had "an easy access " room which we had booked by mistake. It was a dark room, with a close up view onto a shed.
The bathroom was a wet room, and the chrome furniture had seen much better days. There was no shelf in the bathroom to put toothbrushes, toothpaste or anything else.
So despite the gloomy room, the bed was very, very comfortable, and the room had a Nespresso machine.
Everything was perfect and it made our wedding day even better.
They need a plumber in the bathroom as well. Shower controls were very stiff, shower didnt drain away and a tap didn't twist the right way.

We booked The Vicarage Suite and whilst it was a large, beautiful room, there were certain things that just didn't meet requirements.
Firstly, the staff on reception are very neutral. Not impolite or rude but certainly not particularly welcoming. We were told on arrival our room did not include breakfast which was odd as it did say on our booking it did. Rather than argue we decided to pay extra (£20 per person) for one mornings worth. It is an absolute rip off. Yet again, we were given a list of what breakfast did not include such as hot food. We wouldn't have minded at all as continental breakfasts can be fantastic but the selection was incredibly poor. Just a loaf of bread, a few cold pastries and 1 choice of cheese and meat.
You would be better off going elsewhere for breakfast.
The room itself looked lovely and was clean enough. However the mattress was really hard and neither myself or husband slept well. It is also a noisy hotel. I was awoken several times in the night to what I'm assuming was a member of staff or other guests coming and going.
Not only this but the room smelt bad, as if the drains needed cleaning out which meant we had to leave the window open to constantly air out the room. There is a coffee machine in the room which the cups do not fit under so was a completely pointless addition.
Whilst we were out it was clear housekeeping had been in as tea/coffee bits had been refilled but they did not bother making the bed or making up the bathroom. I would not come back again and feel like we've been 'had'. It is incredibly expensive for what it is and we left feeling disappointed.

To top this, the salad leaves on my burger weren't fresh. Won't be eating here again.
Had had a long day and it was a horrible wet evening so couldn’t be bothered to complain.
Service at the till was functional in that I didn’t have to wait long. But really the food was in my opinion substandard on this occasion.
Not a nice place to eat in either - - uncomfortable furniture designed to encourage you to eat and go! if it hadn’t been for the rain I would have probably sat on a street bench provided by Oxford City Council
