Extended Stay America Suites - Anchorage - Downtown in Anchorage

Our rooms doors would not close and lock and the window was broken. One of our rooms locked and the key would not work. We were locked out for 5 hours. We wanted pans but housekeeping didn’t have any but there’s somehow an oven. I was woken up at 4 am because some dumb kids were upstairs gooning and i couldn’t have hear it. Terrible experience and would not recommend.

So this was outrageous! There were so many things wrong with my stay there. Management will not do anything but make you the problem. It's as if they want you to go away rather than deal with an issue presented to them. You can expect there to be garbage staked up, many things broke in the rooms, things in disarray, and guest relations to be unhelpful along with employees joking about how bad things are! Like, well, 'you don't need to do dished tonight, right?'
The sinks we're in need of repair one flooded and the other squealed because of 'water pressure'. I'm not sure how guests could be treated so poorly. Plus, authorities were there multiple times, which other guests claimed happened regularly, seemed like good response time, but not sure about being in a place that needs them that often.

There was a huge aggressive unwelcoming Samoan lady who checked us in. A few days in a row. We would go to the lobby to get outside. And there was a huge band of Samoans just hanging out In the lobby. And we couldn’t have visitors. The carpet was dirty, we found other peoples things like a leg brace and glasses under the bed. Which means they didn’t completely clean. There was no heat to be had. There was fan but only blew cold air. So it was cold , cold.. the only good part of the experience was. When I left the hotel for the day.

Located between 2 shelters, the neighborhood is terrible. We had to park on the street since there’s not enough room in the small parking lot for all guest vehicles. The back door was propped open with a rat bait station. I closed it but noticed employees entering & exiting the propped door throughout the night. Terrible security. The mattress is so old and lumpy I could not sleep. You must check out glasses, etc. from the front desk - nothing in the kitchen. The floor is so sticky my shoes made noise. I can go on and on. Never been anywhere like this…

Desk staff was pretty unprofessional. Sent us to a dirty room at first, then no apology. The rooms didn't have any kitchen items at all which is different from any extended stay I've been to.

The staff didn't even acknowledge we needed help when entering the hotel, as I struggled with three very heavy bags and my mother who'd just had a major surgery and could barely walk. I even mentioned many times that she was still under anesthesia and I might need help, but no response. Mind you, there wasn't another soul in the hotel but us and the staff. When we finally made it to the room that was as far away as possible from the door (even though they knew we were coming from a surgery during reservation), the room was filthy. Towels weren't replaced, some were missing, the rest were a mess, the mirrors were filthy, the sink wouldn't drain and was dirty, there were hairs all over the sink, tub, desk, shower curtain, floor, wall, toilet, and more. The ice trays in the freezer weren't changed or cleaned. There weren't clean pillow cases. The nightstand was filthy. The tv made a horrible loud continuous beep incessantly on almost all channels, except for two. The lights were weak and flickery. There were no cups, coffee pot, etc. The lamp shade was sideways. The only breakfast foods were sketchy coffee, half packs of granola bars, single oatmeal packs, and snack sized muffins. They don't tell you where the vending or washing machines are. There is no ice machine. They have old, broken, dirty carpets, walls, etc. The pool was out of service (and seems like it has been for a long time by choice so they don't have to take care of it) and the same for the "gym". Even the "conference rooms". The staff was overheard/seen texting, eating, talking about how they "thought you were supposed to throw the key cards away!" Also, the staff has no idea how to issue meal tickets for people staying with Medicaid vouchers for lodging and food. They had a very dismissive attitude and said "it is what it is, I don't know what to tell you!" when asked if they knew how that worked. If I didn't have ANYWHERE else to stay, I MIGHT stay here again. If I had a better option, I would take it in a heartbeat. Very disappointed in this experience.
