The staff was amazing from start to finish. The front desk assisted us with a room upgrade, and the valet even gave us a ride on their golf cart so we could make our dinner reservation on time. We ordered room service for breakfast the night before, and it arrived right on schedule the next morning.

The room itself was great and very comfortable. The only thing I would suggest improving is the toilet fixtures—the handle felt more like something you’d find in a public restroom or bar, which seemed a bit out of place for a luxury resort.

I love classic, iconic hotels. La Valencia is not one of them. The front desk staff was unfriendly and inhospitable. Pillows are hard and lumpy. It felt very dated and lacked the charm I was hoping to find. There is so much potential here and I hope they invest in a renovation soon. The concierge and valet were professional and personable. Not many options in La Jolla but not worth the $$$.

The staff was excellent, the food and bar service were wonderful as well as the location. The hotel is an old and historical, and drastically needs renovations. It needs a Four Seasons or a St Regis to come in and really overhaul the entire structure and bring out its true beauty. Beds were so so

park in the loading area, nobody help me with luggage, just standing by and chatting with each other.
in-room dinning, the food is good, but the service is terrible. The lady knock the door just like with anger. So weird.

Although it is a beautiful building, I won't recommend and won't come again.

Hotel was very nice but way overpriced. Parking was a nightmare in the tight neighborhood, but valet was good.

Loved the pool. We had a problem with our room which required us to switch. That was frustrating because it seems the staff knew that room was a problem. Otherwise we love the hotel, location and pool area. Staff is great.

Not a luxury experience
We were excited about staying at LaValencia based on previous experience with historic luxury resort hotels. However…
The staff was particularly rude from the reception to check out. One particular example—my husband asked what kind of bagel was provided on the lox plate and the waiter said Everything, like it says in the menu. Plus, it was a very bad bagel
Next, the bathroom could not have been any smaller its door had peeling paint
Be forewarned that it is a wedding factory and the events take over everything, especially the pool, where there was no space in the pool and certainly no place to sit

A wonderful hotel. Love the history. Staff were great, food was delicious. However, the pool plaster is worn and the water line tile is missing. The shower in the room had mold.

The property is nearly 100 yrs old. So”as new” isn’t expected. But the room was very tired, and dinged up, AC worked poorly and there was a definite mildew smell. The above ground floors 7+ are better. We had stayed here about 10 years ago.

The location is very convenient to La Jolla; the staff was helpful with occasional shuttle transportation and the Concierge was wonderful to work with. The restaurants are convenient but the quality is inferior to the costs.
