A beautifully restored little Inn, and for the price we paid, it was ok. But I feel the management doesn't quite understand what this place needs to be in order to thrive. Pros: Cute and unique antique rooms. -Easy and safe parking across street( beware they tried to charge me $10/day when my booking said free parking) -Great location -Friendly staff. Cons: Mattress and pillows were old and lumpy. Upkeep on building and grounds seems to be lacking. Breakfast has very limited hours and everything is just sitting out, milk etc. is not refrigerated or chilled in any way. Cleanliness of the rooms leaves a little to be desired. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Interesting stay. The decor reminded me of the Haunted Mansion. A bit noisy (cteaking of doors, hollow wooded floors, construction next door), but quiet at night. Parking situation was a bit too much, but it was free. You had to carry three things with you at all times. The key for your room, hotel key card, and a parking garage key card at all times. Other than that, it was an okay stay. I recommend staying there at least once in your life, but i wouldnt stay more than 2 days there. The bath tubs and shower could definitely be upgraded, they're so old fashioned. They also need to have a rubber mat or something out in the tub to prevent slipping. Good customer service though. David's a nice dude. 4 out of 5.

Absolutely nice, small and quite place! Try your lunch in the Barrio Star at the corner!

We appreciated the early check-in & helping us take our luggage upstairs. The breakfast was satisfactory. The Inn is two short blocks away from Balboa Park. Sitting outside in the garden was engaging. It should be mentioned that there's construction next door....we were woken up just after 7am by the noise.

It was our first time staying in a place like this. The beds are not comfortable at all and besides decoration pillows (which I'm not sure if they wash them) you only get two white case pillows. The room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator which would of been nice considering I have medication that needs to be cold. The breakfast is umm I am not sure you can even call it a breakfast (cold meat, cheese, and little pastries) I advise to plan to eat breakfast somewhere else. Other than that its a decent alternative to a hotel. Free parking across the street, convenient location, and cute historic feel.

First off, the price per night is nowhere near the service you can expect. The rates are about double the price of a 4 or 5 star hotel in the heart of downtown SD.

Both nights my room was so hot that I had to sleep with the windows open which is pretty unacceptable, as the staff, who is nowhere to be found, was well aware the AC was not working before our stay, yet never informed us until we were finally able to find someone to tell them that the room was over 90 degrees the entire stay.

Nonetheless, you are better off staying elsewhere like an actual 4 or 5 star hotel for half the rates you they are charging and can expect to receive way better service.

This review is for my wedding that I just had here on September 12, 2020.
(As a side note to others-this venue is up for sale again so I don't know if they are scheduling new weddings/events until new owners take over. But I sure hope it is used again for a wedding venue- it is stunning!)
This was our dream wedding!
A huge thank you to the amazing team that pulled this off during a pandemic (my wedding was all of 18 people).
Aly is responsive, kind, detail oriented and just wonderful. She was our day of event coordinator and I could not have asked for anyone better!
Noban the chef is outstanding- and we seriously want him to offer cooking classes someday, all of his food was delicious!
Holly the mixologist extraordinaire is amazing!! Seriously, tell her what liquor you like and she makes an amazing cocktail out of it!
Bernie the groundskeeper is so kind, helpful and so knowledgeable about the manor. We enjoyed chatting with him every chance we could.
This team is extraordinary and I hope that others get to experience them also.
Way to go all of you on creating a safe and amazing 2020 wedding here for us! We thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!
Now on to the manor itself, absolutely stunning. There is no place to take a bad photo here. The rooms are gorgeous and the outside area and tree are really what drew us to this special place.

We LOVED having our wedding here. I spent more hours on the knot than I want to admit looking for a place that was more special than just another hotel or golf course wedding. This was a new venue so it was hidden in the results but I’m sooo glad we found it.

Ben was super helpful in working with our budget so that we could could have our dream day.

Noban cooked “some of the best salmon I have had in my life” as my husband told everyone. Our guests all raved about the food- and they had a personal server for us that night so we actually got to eat the food!

Aly was beyond organized and on top of everything. She took care of everything and did it in such a composed manor that she calmed me of any stress I might have.

Bernie is the best. He took care of us and our overnight guests and always had a smile on his face. He was sooo helpful in our set up and preparations the day before and cleaning up the day after.

The venue itself is amazing. The details that went into the remodel are really impressive. A lot of time and love were put into this house and it shows. Having the house all weekend was just the best. We had our rehearsal there the day before with a taco stand and got to spend the evening with our close family relaxing and enjoying time together. I got to sleep in and roll out of bed and up to the 3rd floor’s secret room behind the bookshelf to get my hair and makeup done. I already felt comfortable in the house and it kept my stress level so low. It was great that after the wedding we could hang around with our family and not worry about packing up or forgetting things there because we could deal with it all the next day.

I cannot begin to express how perfect of a venue this is. They take care of you and really allow you to enjoy your day at such a special and unique place.

We can't thank The Britt Scripps Manor in San Diego, CA enough for the most incredible wedding day. My wife and I wanted an intimate Victorian themed wedding and a murder mystery rehearsal dinner. In 3 months, this team put together our murder mystery rehearsal dinner, 50-person ceremony/reception and executed it flawlessly. We are SO happy with the choice we made hosting our special day there! Our wedding was nothing short of "happily ever after" with the breathtaking backdrop of the tree overlooking the manor. All of our family and friends who attended absolutely loved it. They raved about the picturesque ceremony site, the glamorous and classy interior, the delicious food, our signature drinks, the friendly service and the overall ambiance. Working with both the management and the crew was fine. We couldn't have been more pleased with the incredible service provided by Louisa, the coordinator, Keegan, the property manager, and Jesse, the chef. I felt completely at ease with Louisa being in charge of our entire event from start to finish. Their whole team put our dream wedding together in 3 months. They answered all of my questions thoroughly and in a timely manner. I can't recommend her and the Britt Scripps Manor enough! Thank you for making our special day a memory we will treasure for a lifetime!

This review is long overdue, but I had to make sure I could take the time to give it justice– Sam, Keegan and the whole team at Britt Scripps Manor literally saved our wedding.

Six weeks before our wedding date, September 30, our venue cancelled on us because of legal issues, total nightmare, I was freaking out. Having just bought Britt Scripps in July and completed refurbish work to this gorgeous property, new ownership was able to put together a better wedding than we already had planned. Seriously, these guys know what they’re doing. Reassuring us from the start since it’s a “new” wedding venue, they have 4 other properties and they’ve been doing this for almost 10 years, their catering program and different chefs are incredible, and they keep almost everyting in house so youre not having to cobble together different people who aren’t used to working together.

They offer custom menus for both food and drinks, and both are SO GOOD…. Seriosuly, guests have not stopped commenting to us about how it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had! And Holly and her bartenders were so great, they would make new drinks for our guests on the spot, asking what people liked and surprising them with something unique. I just couldn’t believe how much fun my husband and I and all our guests had, I wish we could have a wedding here every year!

The event coordinator (“day of” coordination is included) Kate was outstanding. So on point and awesome to work with!

I just can’t say enough about how professional everyone was, and also a pleasure to deal with. This is a great team, fun, energetic, and it’s an amazing venue, and we feel so fortunate to have been the first to get married here with how everything happened. You will not regret booking Brit Scripps Manor.
