Hotel was under construction and it was not mentioned anywhere on their website before booking.

Walked into the courtyard to see a huge Macaw bird in a 2ft wide x 4ft foot long cage. The cage has thick plastic PVC on the front & back & only the sides of the cage are breathable. Poor bird could barely breath & directly in the sun on a 97°degree day! Little water bowl! So, so sad! What a slow miserable death!! I'm sure the bird gets fed daily, but why is the cage enclosed with thick PVC plastic? As an advocate & donor for a bird/wildlife sanctuary here in Florida, the Hyatt could really afford to build a better cage & habitat for their beloved rescued bird, Odie!!!

This hotel has some positives BUT BEWARE...Based on the cost of the property and my experience at other Hyatt Resorts, I was SURPRISED and DISAPPOINTED to discover that the property was very "public". That is, there is not controlled or monitored access to the property, limiting only hotel guests access. The small pool area was primarily comprised of drunk, non-hotel guests occupying most of the pool lounge chairs while creating a non-Hyatt Resort atmosphere and experience for paying guests. I observed the non-hotel guests being loud, rude and disrespectful to hotel guests and hotel staff. Because common area access to bathrooms at the property were limited, I also observed multiple non-hotel guests urinating in the bushes directly adjacent to the pool area. These non-hotel guests were most likely staying at less expensive properties with little to no amenities and so they were taking advantage of the amenities Hyatt property at the expense of actual, paying Hyatt guests. It would appear that Hyatt has made the decision to put revenue above guest experience by opening up their pool and pool bar area to non-hotel guests in order to generate more income.

Additionally, there was no controlled access to the gym. I workout every day and observed non-hotel guests entering the property and using the gym each day. I had to wait to use equipment due to these non- hotel guests being present. Again, taking away from paying Hyatt guests experience.

I would not recommend this property for this reason. Stay next door at the Pier House if you want an better experience.
