Great beach access
My family and I stayed at the resort last week and may I just say, AMAZING !!! We loved it so much we really didn’t want to leave lol. There’s a lot of space ! & they had everything we needed, we really appreciated that. They have 3 bathrooms which was super convenient for us(: We also had a nice view and balcony while still having our condo’s privacy. We loved our second floor room! The pool and hot tub was right across from us, a big plus !🌟 it would be cool for it to stay open a bit longer but nonetheless absolutely loved it. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you guys for the great hospitality :) highly recommend!
Great place to stay the grounds are beautiful and you're close to the highway to get around the island. It's not so great if you're looking for walking distance to restaurants or shops, pretty much just the beach and other condo buildings around you
This review is quite lengthy, and I strongly recommend you take the time to read the entire review as it may save you some annoyance and experience of not really getting what you paid for.
I booked suite 2E at the Koa Resort in Maui for our 12 day vacation in Maui. I was travelling with my son and daughter-in-law and their 2 children aged 2 ½ and 6 months.
As indicated in the e-mailed check-in information, we arrived at Koa Resort at approximately 4:00 PM to check into our unit #2E. When we arrived at the unit some maintenance had just been completed and the paint on the kitchen ceiling valance was still wet above the stove and cupboards, and there was a distinct paint odor. I mentioned to both Kelli and Michael that I was not happy with having to be greeted into our unit with the smell of fresh paint, but the comment was just shrugged off with a response that it will dry soon and the odor will be gone The odor remained through the evening and into the next morning, and I was displeased to have to smell the odor of fresh paint for our initial evening and the following morning.
During the first day in the unit it was evident that minimal cleaning had been performed prior to our stay. We found a number of issues with the unit, including:
• two screws on our bedroom carpet,
• dead bugs in the small bedroom closet,
• renovation debris, wood shavings and pieces of PVC pipe on the floor of the living room.
• some miscellaneous garbage in the living room,
• A children’s sucker stick on the kitchen floor,
• drywall dust on the bedroom molding,
• significant amounts of dust on the door and door louvers to the washing machine/dryer and hall closets, and
The unit also had a number of mechanical issues, including:
• The dishwasher unit not being secured into the cabinet. The dishwasher was continually falling out every time we loaded and unloaded the dishwasher.
• The door handle on the oven was very loose and eventually the handle and front glass panel came completely loose and fell off while we were cooking. This was quite unexpected and actually dangerous as the oven was on and extremely hot when this occurred.
• The air conditioning had been recently done. There were open exposed pipes and electrical wire running along the walls and ceiling. This is a significant safety issue with unshielded electrical wire exposed along the kitchen ceiling and living room floor refrigerant lines.
With a small, active toddler and an infant in the unit, the safety issues created by the poor cleaning and the mechanical items were extremely concerning, and, quite frankly, unacceptable.
Other minor issues included the following:
• The drapes in the living room need repair. They do not shut all the way as there are hooks missing from the rail rod.
• The condo advertised that it was equipped with a land line telephone, but there was no phone in the unit
• The internet service in our unit was out for 2 extended periods (2 to 3 hours each) during our stay. Whether this was unusual or not I can’t say, but if you are planning to use the internet for work or meetings during your stay, be aware that it may an issue. This was not a complex issue, but an issue with the internet service provider.
One last note is the communication, or lack of, experience, we have had with the property broker. Towards the end of our stay, we sent an email to Kelli Swan about our experience staying in this unit. The email was sent on Nov. 11th and we waited a few days to hear from her as Nov. 11 was a holiday and then we moved into the weekend. As I write this review (Nov. 20th) I have yet to hear from her. I reached out to Kelli asking her to respond to my email before writing a review of our experience at 2E Koa Resort Maui. Still no reply. This is incredibly frustrating, very unprofessional, and begs the question whether ours, or anyone else’s rental issues will be addressed, or just ignored.
This was just our experience and may not reflect others experiences with this unit, but I wanted others to be aware of our experience and not be surprised.

Great stay- we stayed for a week! 3 of us couples.. it was an amazing home away from home! The pool and hot tubs were a nice addition at night!
We had a great stay at Koa Resort. I loved opening the doors in the morning to listen to all of the birds. The courtyard was so pretty, the kids loved the pool and playing ping pong. They also had barbecues, shuffleboard and tennis courts. It was just a short walk to the beach across the street.
This resort is in the heart of kihei and right by the water. The resort had a amazing pool and hot tub. Our townhouse was very nicely updated and our owner was very responsive to our questions. The grounds are kept up and very quiet. We would stay here again!
We rented an upper unit at Koa Resort and because each unit has a different owner, some of this review is not applicable to all units. The grounds and pool are beautiful, it is across the street from a great beachcombing beach, beautiful sunsets and it's in Kihei, which is about 30 minutes from the airport in Kahului. The condo is a short drive to Safeway and other shops. The one thing I missed at night was not being able to hear the ocean. The condo we rented had beach chairs, beach toys and buckets, umbrellas, and a cooler. There was no welcome binder or check in forms to complete in our condo, and when we called the unit manager (not the resort manager) no one responded.
Very nice clean and the owners were very nice and wonderful to deal with.
Clean, nice place. Pool and jacuzzi open late. Nice neighbors and ppl from around the world.
