The Islander Motel in Ocean City

If there was a way I can rate this less then a 1 star I would. We came here for a nice weekend getaway. I booked it online about a month ago and the pictures they show is nothing like what you walk in to. We got our room and it looks like something out of a horror movie. I have bad asthma and the smell of the room was atrocious unbearable to breathe. There were a other couple also complaining about stuff crawling in the room. If your thinking of staying here I would think twice. This place should not evening be operating. And the lady at the office desk was not professional actually very rude.

BED BUGS, MOLD, RUDE STAFF... They will not refund money. They offer false advertising and then when you get there the rooms are disgusting. Burners on the cook top didn't even heat up and you pay more to have them. The mildew smell as soon as you open the door would knock you over. The pictures on line are not what I walked in to. There were people calling the police looking for help and told it's a civil matter and the owner's could care less. They told them go ahead and call the police and call the health department while you're at it! There was fuzzy mold behind the beds that was a thick fuzzy mold and black mold all around the edges. There were active, crawling bed bugs. They then tried renting the same room to someone else after KNOWING that was in that room. I have no idea how this motel is so well known for being so gross and unhealthy and is still being promoted on so many sights with fake reviews and complete lies. This is run by foreigners that barely speak English!! Maryland's health department needs to step up and shut them down. It's well known by the locals for how bad it is and how dirty the conditions are. There's NO excuse for that. Maybe they're paying someone off because that's the only logical explanation as to how they can possibly remain open. Completely mind blowing! **Update** I contacted MD health department and there are " no regulations on mold or bed bugs" they can SUGGEST they call pest control but that's about it! So, I seriously suggest staying far away from this hell hole even more so knowing they will not do anything about it and no one will force them to.

Bugs, mold, broken a/c, exposed wires? What more could you want from a motel. Wow I didn’t expect much from this place. But man was it bad. All the good reviews of people “willing to stay here” , I can’t imagine what their homes look like. If you’re looking to save a buck, check air bnb or just pay up because, yikes.

My wife and I just took a short trip/stay to ocean city. Our room was clean. Service was good. Location was excellent. I have no issues with the accommodations of the motel. My issue is with the unethical business practices of the owner/management. I've stayed in other hotels in Las Vegas, DC, Baltimore, and all of those establishments released the security deposit upon checking out. I checked out on Sunday and they didn't release my security deposit until this morning. I believe they may have charged me for another day of parking. I will know for certain when I review my statement. Discrimination is when you don't treat all your customers the same. Food for thought

IF I could give this place zero stars I would. nothing about this place is good. first no internet, lies, box old tv, no sink 2 microwaves that didn't work, no shower head, dirty, told front desk but nothing was done. stayed 5 days because they take your money first, and no refunds. horrible place. never stay there again if it was free!!!
