Excellent in everything, welcoming, abundant, kind, traditional

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kalemi 2 in Gjirokastër! The hotel itself is full of charm, beautifully combining traditional Albanian architecture with modern comfort. The breakfast was absolutely delicious — fresh, varied, and served with care in a lovely setting.

A small tip for travelers arriving by car: Google Maps can sometimes make mistakes when guiding you to the hotel, so it’s best to double-check the route or contact the reception for directions — the staff are very friendly and always ready to help.

Overall, a fantastic place to stay in Gjirokastër — cozy, authentic, and with great hospitality!

Lovely room and location. Everyone was kind and helpful. We loved our stay

This hotel is very close to the centre and is in the traditional Ottoman style. It is modern and well laid out. There was no lift so I had to negotiate the one flight of stairs. Luckily someone carried our luggage up and down for us at the end. We had a lovely quiet room. It had a kettle and bottled water and a fridge but again no supplies of tea and coffee, however we do travel with our own supplies. Breakfast was across the way in another building which was fine. Again no restaurant for evening meals but it was close enough to the centre to walk out and find somewhere.

An “interesting”drive up to this beautiful old hotel, through the tiny streets of the old town. Fantastic views from the hotel, there is parking too. We arrived earlier than expected and so met some staff who couldn’t speak much English. This wasn’t a problem as the young lady who was there later spoke it very well. Our room was the most attractive we stayed in , in Albania. Clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was a shame we couldn’t sit out in the courtyard due to the heavy rain. But it looked delightful. The hotel is a short walk from the castle but wear sturdy shoes/trainers.

If you want to see a traditional Albanian home that is now a hotel this is the place to go to. The staff are wonderful! Beautiful outdoor area for relaxing or having a drink. It’s a truly magical place. I’m definitely coming back!!

Authentic and stunning views
We stayed 1 night in a triple room. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was also good and offered a good variety including made to order eggs.

The hotel is a short walk from the old Bazaar and offers amazing views of Gjirokaster, we could see the castle from our room.

A charming hotel in an historic and well renovated period Ottoman era villa. The room we had was comfortable and spacious. There are level views from the balcony of the old and new towns and across the valley. It is well situated for the old bazaar quarter and castle. À highlight is the substantial breakfast available to be served on the terrace, the balcony or indoors. The staff are helpful and charming.

Stunning hotel in the upper hillside of the town. Traditional architecture, incredible views, charming owners and support staff. Wish we could have stayed longer than 1 night!
