Reviews
What really stands out is the staff. Everyone clearly does their best to make guests feel welcome and comfortable, and their friendliness and dedication make a real difference to the overall stay.
The breakfast is simple, but absolutely fine and more than sufficient to start the day. It fits perfectly with the hotel’s straightforward and honest approach.
If you are looking for luxury and modern design, this may not be the right place. But if you appreciate character, a warm welcome, and a stay that feels unique, this hotel is well worth considering.
mine even had two rooms and two separate balconies. The only drawback was the small shower space.
Breakfast was very limited, and overall, the experience did not meet expectations. I stayed only one night and will definitely not return.
Initial impressions in the lobby were good. Traditional Style, spacious with a range of seating a a couple of computers for free internet access. Free WiFi was available throughout but very poor in some places. The room was a good size (half as big again as a budget hotel in the UK). Our room had a balcony too. We used this a lot once our young son was asleep. The room was very dated. The antique drawers wouldn't open or close easily. The table top fridge was plonked on the floor by the flimsy fold-away bed that turned this in to a family room. The fridge didn't work even after we reported it twice. The head for the shower was at knee level so you couldn't stand and shower without holding it. Our room overlooked the road. Some people may have mentioned that the traffic at night was a problem. We didn't find this, and the balcony doors were triple glazed and effectively shut out any noise. The basement has a wellness suite. The pool was more than comfortably heated. It wasn't very big and not suitable for more than about 12 people. The sauna was on every day. The steam and fitness rooms were out of order for our entire stay. The basement didn't open until 3 pm so forget an early morning swim before breakfast.
We booked full board, so we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Lunch was 12-1 pm and dinner started at 7 pm. Which is a long time so they provided cake and tea and coffee about 4 pm. Bearing in mind this is a 3* hotel breakfast was good. A selection of eggs, sausages bacon, bread, sweet baked goods. There was cheese and ham as well as yogurt, musili and fruit etc. They would also cook omelettes and crepes to order. It was self service so you could have as much as you want including the tea, coffee and fruit juices. Lunch was just sad. A bit of salad, bread and often cold cooked vegetables. In the UK if you serve cooked Carrots, broccoli and cauliflower you serve them hot. That was too much of a leap for me. There wasn't even any cheese or ham. We found we preferred the alternative packed lunch. A couple of sandwich rolls, piece of fruit and a bottle of water and ordered this anyway. To be fair after a good breakfast we didn't need much lunch. Dinner was good. We found something we liked every night, and tried a few new things too, even our son managed. There was always lasagne and schnitzel as a backup anyway, Unlimited drinks were included from 7:00 til 8:30 which included tea, coffee, soft drinks (Coke, Fanta etc), beer, red and white wine. We found the house Red very agreeable indeed. There was a large bar which served drinks until late. The children's play room was quite large. It has a TV and DVD player that never worked. A bar football game that was grubby but playable. The rest was just hand-me-down toys. There is a small lawn adjacent to the car par with sun loungers for use in the summer. The Hotel has a number of cycles for hire (not e-bikes). These are free for 2 hours and 2.50 Euros per hour after that.
In summary it's clean and comfortable but needs to be updated and better maintained.
Very disappointing!
