IntercityHotel Wien in Vienna

We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon. Since it was before check‑in time, we left our luggage at the front desk and went out to explore. Due to our tight schedule, we did not return to check in until 10 pm. However, when we got back, no one was at the front desk. After waiting for a while, a staff member came down from the second floor.

During check‑in, we noticed that our reserved room had only one bed, so we asked if it was possible to switch to a twin‑bed room. Perhaps because it was late, the staff seemed quite impatient and informed us that all twin‑bed rooms were fully booked, suggesting we try again the next day. We then inquired about booking an additional double room, but were quoted an unexpectedly high rate of €400.

Shocked by the quote, we first took our luggage to the room and checked online prices on our phone. To our surprise, the same night’s room rate was actually under €200, and twin‑bed rooms were still available. We immediately booked an extra twin‑bed room online. When we went back downstairs and showed the new booking confirmation, the staff offered no apology or explanation for the earlier misinformation—which was truly disappointing.

Furthermore, we found mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom. When the door was closed and hot water was turned on, the entire bathroom filled with a musty, unpleasant odor, which was quite disgusting.

I guess I understand why there were still rooms available when I booked on the same day. For a 4-star hotel that isn't cheap, the value for money is extremely poor. I'd recommend booking your hotel in advance; you could definitely find a much better place for the same price.

1. The hotel is conveniently located near Spar/Hofer supermarkets, and the subway and bus stops are just a few minutes' walk downstairs. That's a definite plus.
2. The breakfast is very simple and unappetizing. I wouldn't recommend it unless you just want to fill your stomach.
3. I scheduled housekeeping a day in advance, but they didn't clean the room. I was too lazy to complain. The second time I requested cleaning, they did it, but they didn't empty the trash from the nightstand and left a cleaning cloth on the sink, which was quite annoying.

It's a shame, given such a good location.

Substandard room amenities. No kettle or coffee machine or cups. No bar fridge.

Rooms were also dated and old.

Staff doesn't look friendly and already informed to throw rubbish in the room but after I go back to the room at night, the rubbish is still there. The service is dropped compared to my first stay.
