Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa in Manama

We had a three night stay with a good breakfast, and friendly service during breakfast hours.

However;

There are some things they can improve on; The housekeeping was not great. Beds were not made to a high standard. Reception staff were generally ok but they tended to the wedding guests more than other guests. We were not offered any refreshments on arrival at the hotel after a long flight and taxi ride to the hotel. This is usually a standard service when we’ve travelled around the world before being guided to our room.

We were very disappointed to find out on our first night that it’s also a very popular wedding venue. On the first night there was a wedding party until the early hours of the morning with very, very loud music. On the second day of our three day stay, the wedding parties were extremely loud and noisy throughout the day, which made it difficult to relax both in the rooms and outside as these took place in the main area for dining and also on the beach and near the pool. You could not go to any part of the hotel for a quiet time. The only choice was to get an uber to Manama and sit in a coffee shop! Not what we wanted to do….!

If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful and calm holiday, and or maybe in transit to another destination, this is not the best choice. We recommend checking in advance if there are any weddings scheduled before booking. Overall, whilst it may seem to be a good option the hotel is not ideal for those seeking peace and quiet or a beach vacation.

Bahrain was a lovely destination and we enjoyed our visits to the souqs, tree of life and camel farm but the experience of the wedding parties noise and service at this hotel has sadly tainted our stay.
