We had a lovely stay at 9Hotel Chelton. The renovations were great and the rooms and everything were clean. We got in very late and the staff ensured we had a flawless check in experience. Even taking us on a quick tour after we expressed interest in the amenities. The staff was tremendous our entire stay and made us feel welcome and valued. With the exception of one incident when I was trying to utilize the honesty bar and get drinks for my sick girlfriend, I was treated as though I wasn’t a paying guest by one woman staff in particular. Besides that, we loved the location and the breakfast. The dining space was a bit tight for the amount of people during our stay but still a pleasant experience. I would definitely stay again (hopefully during the warmer season).

Our stay was ruined by the disastrous breakfast service on Monday morning, despite the best efforts of the staff who did what they could with the available stock… unworthy of a 4-star hotel (all items were out at 9:00 am, a 20-minute wait for bread, only 5 mini pancakes offered for everyone present, no yogurt, a broken waffle iron, etc.). There was no hot water the morning after our arrival. The hotel offered a small gesture of compensation: 2 out of 4 breakfasts were refunded.

Good location and hotel was spotless, didn’t quite put 5 stars as felt the request for more coffee pods (only supplied 2) sugar and milk was quite difficult and I was asked to go down to reception to collect (which I refused as wasn’t dressed - I also completed the post check in questionnaire which was designed to check if there was anything else they could do which I said I’d like more coffee and milk but this didn’t happen, hence I telephoned reception later on to ask. 2 pods for 2 people is a bit light!

Beautiful hotel, nice staff. But a period of inconsistent cleaning quality. My room was 2 hours late in being ready for check-in. I asked for no cleaning service on day 2, yet service people came into the room, leaving the toilet running a flow of water for hours (why didn't they fix it?)
