B&B Patrimonial Little Castle in Vina del Mar

This is at the top of a hill in a safe and quiet location with beautiful views of the city. It is not so much a castle but a huge house with a couple of floors and lots of stairs!

Patricio is very helpful and informative and good to talk to about the city and travel. He was very accommodating. However, he is often busy or on the phone so you have to wait sometimes if you have a query or issue. At 12 I had to check out so was trying to show him I was putting the key on the desk to prove I was checking out and he was irritated but perhaps I should have just left it in the room. Maybe a volunteer could be hired to help with check-out time.

If you buy breakfast be aware it is not buffet style or 'help yourself' - you have to designate a time and be there for it to be given to you (I was not told then when I checked in and did not realise).

You can do laundry at the property for $5, and you can buy beers there or bring your own and drink it on the terrace.

My room was clean and comfortable although I would recommend some small improvements and renovations for example some of the broken door handles or bolt locks being fixed/replaced. Some of the doors to the outside lock behind you so you have to remember to take a key out (which I also did not realise and subsequently locked myself out, as did a member of the cleaning staff there!). It definitely keeps you on your toes.

I definitely recommend staying here if in Vina del Mar - which is much nicer than Valparaiso. There is also a short walk to a nice beach, restaurants (Donde Willys!) and some craft beer bars (e.g La Schoperia).

Stay like home
Excellent host, good location

We planned to stay 5 days in little castle and ended up staying about 2 weeks. Patricio and Ina, the owners, are super friendly, helpfuk and uncomplicated. They recommended us nice activities and had a lot of interesting stories and Information. We would always come back! The room, bathrooms and kitchen were always clean and are well equiped. Thank you so much for the nice time at your hostel!

We stayed here 3 weeks and had a wonderful time. The location is close to everything yet very quite and relaxing.

I stayed for two months and definitely recommend it. It is a large house with a very pleasant terrace to work or rest. The location is very central and, despite having the main nightlife streets below, it is a very quiet and safe neighborhood. The attention of the owners is 10, always attentive and willing to help with whatever is necessary.

Very charming property with plenty of bathrooms. The owner was very welcoming, treated us like royalty and helped us to schedule activities around the area. He also gave us free tickets to a classic music concert.

This Hostel/B&B is beyond wonderful. The owner is extremely welcoming, hospitable, knowledgeable of the area and happy to help however possible. Plus, the location is close to many bars and markets, and is in a very safe area.

We booked the cheapest room and turns out it had no windows. But that was the only inconvenient we had during our stay (and we also were offered to exchange rooms and pay the difference). The breakfast was amazing, with lots of food. The facilities were always clean and neat. The kitchen is small but it was enough for us to cook our meals and the balcony with tables to eat was beautiful. The location is uphill so a car or a taxi is a good choice to arrive and leave.
