Royal Mediterranean Hotel in Guangzhou

This 5 star property to me is probably 4 star at best? The hotel is actually quite nice but its abit run down. The air outside feels cleaner than my room. Wifi signal is poor too. The decor is old but beautiful and we stayed high floor with very nice view but the window glasses are dirty so u cant see very clearly. But overall i think its pretty great in terms of location amenities and its beautiful. BUT there is a day staff named Carine and a night staff guy with pony tail hair. They have VERY BAD SERVICE. Their service make this hotel cheap like budget hotel. Carine’s attitude is very bad, doesnt greet or help n will make some remarks etc. The guy with pony tail hair, we happened to approach the counter to check something on 2 seperate nights, he doesnt greet, no smile, after hearing our queries jus look down and ignore us. Both times the colleague beside him have to answer our questions. These 2 staff ARE TERRIBLE. They should be demoted and retrained. Alot of 3 star hotel staff service r better than these 2.

Stay away if you are looking to stay in a 5 star hotel. It is very old and not upgraded since it started. Carpets are dirty. Breakfast buffet is appalling and the list goes on

Rooms are nice but noisy. Rooms on 40th floors are the worst as they are right next to the restaurant so you get to hear all the noisy plates,cups and spoons being hit together. Their reception for the restaurant is placed outside in lobby so all the noise from phone ringings go straight to your bedroom.

Doors have no 3m to prevent doors from smashing shut. Doors closing are extremely noisy. Rooms are great but noise levels in roooms are very very bad as all noise goes straight into rooms. Owner/builder of this hotel decided to save money on sound proofing. Doors are wooden and heavy so when shutting they make huge and loud sounds. Difficult to sleep with doors from other guests slamming shut every few minutes all night long and all morning long.

Breakfast quality is very bad. Rooms are not cheap but food quality is not good for breakfast considering price they charge for breakfast. Food looks very basic and cheap.
