Everything ok except breakfast need to improve

The views of Taihu Lake are absolutely stunning. We originally booked a king room, but after speaking with Trip.com customer service, they upgraded us to a lake view room. The official photos of the lake view rooms looked beautiful, but upon checking in, I was a little disappointed. The lake was still quite far away. However, we could still see Taihu Lake from our room, and the room itself was quite spacious. The breakfast, though, was just so-so – basically just noodles and a salad.

We were in Dongshan to pick loquats and this Holiday Inn was conveniently located right on our way. It offers a great view of the lake, although the facilities are a bit dated. The service, however, was excellent. The hotel was almost fully booked during our stay, which unfortunately made the breakfast experience on the second day a bit disappointing.

The hotel's location is great, situated between Sunwu Road and Kuaixiang Road. The lake-view rooms offer a beautiful view of Taihu Lake. Less than 2 kilometers in front of the hotel, near the lake, is the Taihu Lake National Wetland Park, which is perfect for a leisurely stroll. The hotel restaurant's nine-compartment Suzhou-style noodles not only look appealing but taste fantastic! Thumbs up! 👍 The room's hygiene was excellent! The only downside was the poor soundproofing; any noise from the corridor, whether footsteps or voices, could be heard clearly.

Zora at the front desk was super helpful. She proactively offered assistance and registered our vehicle for easy in-and-out access. The room was comfortable, and our lake view room offered a great view of Taihu Lake. There were so many people setting off fireworks by the lake on ***** New Year's Eve, and we could watch them directly from our room – definitely a hidden perk of staying here during the Spring Festival!

Clean, budget friendly hotel. Situated at the end of Metro line 5, a good place to stay if using public transport and want to explore Taihu. Next to a small shopping plaza so easy access to basic restaurants.

I stayed at Holiday Inn Express Suzhou Taihu Lake by IHG and was disappointed mainly due to the front desk service. The reception staff were not friendly, showed poor attitude, and did not make guests feel welcome at all. Basic interactions felt cold and unprofessional, which is not what I expect from an IHG brand.

The hotel itself is acceptable in terms of facilities and cleanliness, but the terrible reception service really affected the overall experience. Hospitality starts at the front desk, and unfortunately this was a major letdown.

I hope management will seriously look into staff training and service attitude, as this could greatly improve future guest experiences.

The room is quite small. The toilet seat doesn't fully cover the rim, so I was concerned about urine splashing on my thighs. Breakfast was terrible. Although there seemed to be a variety of options, very few were edible. The purple sweet potato cake had a strong artificial flavor, tasting highly processed. The toaster machine was poorly adjusted for temperature and time; it barely toasted the bread, and the controls were awkwardly positioned, making it difficult to use. Basically, all that was left to eat was porridge and eggs, and if you arrived a bit later, even the porridge ran out and wasn't refilled. They were also stingy with the watermelon. The fried noodles and fried rice were a waste of ingredients, simply inedible. Both the lobby and the rooms were poorly heated, leaving them quite chilly. The front desk staff's service attitude was stiff and unprofessional, as if they hadn't been trained. Perhaps the owner exploits them too much, making them unmotivated. Overall, this doesn't feel like an IHG hotel; it has the unprofessional vibe of a privately run establishment.
