The hotel is considered by many to be the most beautiful building in mariánské lázně. In the early nineteenth century the town's founder, Abbot Karel Kaspar Reitenberger built one of the first Spa houses, but the building looked completely different. An extensive renovation of this property was completed in the end of XIX century in connection with the frequent visits of king Edward VII. Until today the hotel has retained its original interiors including the Roman Baths, the Royal cabin of Edward VII and Emperor's cabin, the Austrian monarch Franz Joseph II of Habsburg. In 2005, there lived a British Prince Edward during his visit to mariánské lázně.
