Wherever Mini Hostel in Rovaniemi

This hostel is excellent! It’s located right in the center of Rovaniemi, which makes it very convenient to get around. The facilities are all very comfortable, and every area is always spotless! I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights right from the doorstep of the hostel, which made my stay even more magical! I also have to highlight Alisa’s attention — she is always attentive, very kind, and treats you as if she’s known you forever. Thank you, Wherever Hostel and Alisa, for everything! I will definitely come back and I 100% recommend this place!

The hostel is very stylish and the room was very comfortable. The kitchen is big and has all amenities. It’s a nice place to stay if you want to meet other travelers from all around the world. Definitely very Chanel :)) Book Wherever hostel immediately!

It was a small, clean hostel in Rovaniemi. The owner, a woman, was very kind and could use LINE to give directions and introduce her friends who are aurora hunters, which was very helpful. I went to a park in the middle of the night to take pictures of the aurora, and I think I was able to take some good pictures of the Northern Lights with my iPhone. I would definitely like to go again if I get the chance. I still keep in contact with the professional aurora hunter on WhatsApp. He took me to a clear spot across the Swedish border from Finland in the middle of the night, and made all the photos he took available for download on WhatsApp. He was a wonderful, privately run professional aurora hunter, something you can't get at a big company.

The hostel was brilliant. Staff was very friendly and polite. I stayed there over 3 days. I liked everything. P.S. This is a nice place to meet funny people. This is not about the hostel but had a neighbour who had a really bad smell, just a stinky neighbour. He could not use key box for some reason even though it was very simple (LOL). Luckily he checked out so everyone could breathe again.

The hostel is small but very cozy and clean. I arrived before the check in time because I needed to leave my baggage and I didn't know about the self check in. I wrote to them through booking and they called me right away! :) The Kitchen is well stocked and clean. Big bathroom and shower! They try to save water as much as possible, very appreciated :)

It was very cozy place and full of colors.
Very clean and comfortable.
I used everything from the kitchen even some pasta.
It is near to city center, 5min to shoping mall,
15min train station and 8min to bus station.

The only problem was the late check in after 15.00 but very ease to do it

I stayed both here and Hostel Cafe Koti while I was in Rovaniemi, so I will compare them. I like this hostel more though. You can tell the manager really cares about this place.

COMMON AREAS
I was half-working remote and the common area was just wonderful. I fell in love the moment I stepped in. I was so productive on the giant couch thing. I also was so comfy working in bed. Hostel Koti... the cafe was great downstairs to hang out, but it was closed after 5. The hostel common area/kitchen was OK and I met some people, but just a bit boring.

BEDS
Most comfortable bed and pillow I've ever had in a hostel. Koti's bed was like a cot. Wherever Hostel wins this one too.

KITCHEN
Both were fine but I liked Wherever's kitchen more, and lots more goodies. It was also super clean.

CLEANLINESS
Both were clean enough. But in Koti's, I could smell the pipes in some bathrooms. Gross. Wherever Hostel took cleanliness to another level. I would constantly see the manager in the daytime even pick up the littlest things off the floor. This may be unfair comparison b/c Koti is way bigger, but it is what it is.

LOCATION
Okay, this one is hard. I think I liked Koti's slightly better because it was closer to the river. But Wherever Hostel is closer to the train station, main mall, my fav restaurant, and a block away from the best bike shop in town. Still was only a 5min walk to the river. HOWEVER - something I noticed is that Wherever Hostel seems to be on a common route for late-night bar-goers from the university. Since the hostel is on the ground floor, sometimes you could hear them at night. Not close to a bar though so it only ever lasted 1-2 seconds at a time.

Also Wherever has the BEST SHOWER i've ever had in a hostel. There are also so many shampoos out for everyone to use.

Had an amazig night here! Very clean and super friendly staff, with everything you might need. I can definitely recommend!

Had the best time ever here. Alisa is the best! Met so many great people here. Beds are good, cooking supplies are good. Shower is amazing. All in all one of the best hostels i've been at! Wish i made more pics of the hostel, the pics i made were the only ones i made haha
