Vaattunki Wilderness Resort in Vikajarvi

Amazing location, looks like a dream. The "room" is too small.

Stunning and peaceful forest location with excellent food and facilities. We stayed in a cabin, which was warm, clean and very comfortable. An amazing view of the forest from the large window makes it extra special. From your cabin you can walk straight into the forest and hike, seeing stunning winter views. The half board option gives you a buffet breakfast (eggs made to order) and an excellent 3 course evening meal menu in a beautiful building with a lovely view. The staff are friendly and helpful and you can access a large range of winter activities from the resort using Safartica. We hired a car as the resort is 2 km from the main road and 20 mins from the main town. Having been to Arctic Scandinavia many times, I would highly recommend this place and would love to return!

We have just spent 4 nights at this resort and it is the most wonderful place. The location is perfect, it is a beautiful riverside resort covered with snowy forests and it is so quiet and peaceful. Conveniently it is only a short journey from the town, airport and Santa Claus Village but feels a million miles away - the best of both worlds. The staff are fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was friendly and helpful and a credit to the resort, from reception to housekeeping. The food is excellent, we stayed half board and had an excellent breakfast and 3 course evening meal every day. There was a good choice and several vegetarian options. Ww stayed in a Panorama hut which was very quiet and peaceful. The hut was warm and comfy and had all the basics. A second chair would have been a nice extra and if you wanted to make use of the microwave there was no crockery or cutlery but not a problem for us. We did snowmobiling, reindeer ride and husky ride on site and it was so easy as we didn’t have to transfer to a different location. It was a short walk to the dressing room to get suited up and then straight in to the activity so saved precious holiday time. We loved our stay in this special place and would recommend it to anyone.

Wow! Vaattunki wilderness resort is breath taking. The views from reception, the restaurant and our suite were magical, walking around the resort is beautiful and everywhere is spotless. We stayed in the river side suite and it is 5*+ with all facilities finished to the highest standard. There are cooking facilities which we made use of and our children loved the hot tub on our balcony and the sauna within the bathroom. The staff are super helpful and friendly and were attentive with anything we needed. It’s about 15 minute drive to the main Christmas attractions and now having been to Santa clause village, there is no question that Vaattunki was the right place to stay as you get to take in the natural beauty of Finland and experience the fantastic facilities. There are sledges dotted around the resort which were great to pull the kids around and also to make use of the sledging hill. It really did make our first visit to Lapland extra magical.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It isn't an overly far drive from Rovaniemi centre, the airport etc. From the main road you have to take a dirt track to this place which is full of pot holes and is quite a drive. There are no sign posts for this place on the main road so can very easily miss the turning onto the track especially in the dark as there is also no lighting. There is some parking just past the gate which if you are driving a car will need to be parked here for certain buildings booked. The first night we stayed in one of the igloo's which was ok however all of them apart from ours were being worked on so there were work men there when we checked in. The igloo was ok, some things had been missed from being provided such as spoons for the tea/coffee. There wasn't a microwave but there was a fridge. The main bed and the sofa bed were comfy. There are no blinds on the window so not sure whether people outside can see the reflection inside but at certain levels outside would be able to see inside. There was some lighting outside which they didn't turn off during the night so seeing any northern lights would be difficult especially if there is any lighting on inside. The bathroom was ok. In the morning the workmen started working again on the other igloos and they opened our door also before they realised someone was staying in it. The second night we staying in one of the huts which you can park the car outside. It was quite small, a single sofa bed, double bed, very small kitchen area which was just a sink, fridge, microwave, coffee machine. The bathroom was very small. The view from the full height window was just of the forest and the small horizontal window was just of the other huts/igloo's. It was ok to stay in. The breakfast was ok, it was buffet style with a good choice of items, you could get omelette/eggs cooked fresh on request to the kitchen staff where the buffet was. This was nice, there was some local produce here which was nice to try. Overall the staff seemed friendly and helpful. The location is nice with being away from anything next to a river and in the woods. Better signage to this place would be good. Food is nice. The place seemed clean and of a higher standard. Nice place to stay.

We had the pleasure of staying here as a group of 20 people. The staff is friendly and very service minded. They offer you flexibility and service when you need it. The tours / Safaris here are really good. We liked the Husky experience the most. Note: As a visitor - dont bring too much clothes. You will get clothes for all the safaris. We highly recommend this place if you like good service, quality and high standards.

It was a wonderful lodge. We had a great time hiking in the nature park during the day and watching the aurora borealis from where we stayed at night.

That was a nice accommodation, it's close to airport and santa village.

The hotel is not close to the city center, but there are shuttle buses to Santa Claus Village and the city center every day. The environment is beautiful and the breakfast is rich. However, the most unsatisfactory thing is that there is no wifi in the room during the stay, and there is no wifi in the hotel lobby restaurant.
