Enjoyed my two week stay at Scandic Kallio. Staff was highlight: Smiling Alyssa in the breakfast room along with great colleagues; Mark, Asa, and the cleaning crew were great and helpful: Front desk all friendly and professional.
Enjoyed sauna, good ac on hot days. Will return!

Honestly, I was expecting the worst after reading the reviews on Google Maps, but my stay turned out to be totally fine! The hotel was clean, the facilities were good, and the breakfast had a decent variety. The location is also really convenient and not far from the city center, and there’s a direct tram right in front of the hotel that takes you there easily. What really stood out was the staff that they were super friendly and always willing to help. I had no issues at all during my stay, and it was much better than I had anticipated. If you’re worried because of the reviews, don’t be! it was a solid experience!

The renovated Scandic Kallio is the only hotel in the area that exudes the ruggedness and authenticity of the bohemian district. The color scheme and furniture of the rooms reflect Kallio's urban city atmosphere, without forgetting the earthiness. Some rooms have a view of Kallio's lively streets, others of the peaceful courtyard. In the hotel's corridors you can admire street art-themed prints.

Not a Scandic you would expect. Find somewhere else. I don't understand how this hotel acquired the name "Scandic". Scandic is not a high-end hotel chain, but there is a class you expect from the name Scandic and this hotel is a total disappointment.
1. Bad reception: Yeah bad. Both courtesy and professionality.
2. Gym issue: The website says they have an external gym, but actually it's not even theirs so you need to pay to use it.
3. Room issue: The feature and the size of the room do not match with the information they show on their website. I booked from Scandic website.

Scandic Kallio is a very convenient location as it is walking distance to the tram and bus lines. It also has a nice park in front of the hotel. The hotel room was clean and bed linens and towels clean and fresh. Breakfast offers a nice spread of continental and Finnish foods. Everything was fresh and delicious.

Pretty basic hotel, but a good value by Helsinki standards, I think. Main floor bar closed very early, and doesn't really have much going for it. Small rooms; comfortable bed. Perfectly acceptable place to stay.
