Very disappointing experience at Hotel Astrid, Lourdes

I recently stayed at Hotel Astrid in Lourdes as part of a group of 32 pilgrims, and our experience during the last two nights was very disappointing.

On the morning of our departure, we left the hotel to attend Mass. After Mass, we were scheduled to travel to Montserrat, Spain. I had planned to return to my room to change into more comfortable clothes for the long journey. Before leaving, I made sure to place the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door.

When we returned around 8:45 a.m., we were shocked to find that our personal belongings had been packed up without our permission and placed carelessly in the lobby. My luggage had been clipped shut, with some of my clothes hanging out. Everything was handled with no respect or care.

This was completely unacceptable, especially since the “Do Not Disturb” sign was clearly displayed. Many other members of our pilgrimage group experienced the same situation.

When we brought the issue to the attention of the hotel staff, the response was disappointing and unprofessional. The lady at the front desk was not approachable and insisted it was not her fault, blaming the cleaning staff instead.

As someone who travels frequently around the world, I have never encountered such disregard for guests’ privacy and belongings. This incident left a very negative impression, especially since our visit was part of a spiritual pilgrimage.

I sincerely hope the hotel management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that future guests are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Hotel Astrid.
