Hôtel des Ecrivains in Paris

This time I only booked a room without meals. Even though I'm Japanese, the reception staff were very kind and explained everything clearly to me in English. The room was basic but a good size and clean enough for a comfortable stay. Amenities included a hairdryer, body wash, and towels. I stayed for 4 days and had no issues with cleaning or towel changes, and nothing went missing. The hotel has good access to the train station, making it convenient for sightseeing in Paris. There are bakeries and supermarkets around the hotel, and I felt safe in the area. It was a good experience overall.

We spent a wonderful 7-day holiday in this very nice hotel situated in Place d'Italie. The hotel is well connected to all the "incontournables" (Le Pantheon, Les Jardins de Luxembourg, Cathedrale de Notre Dame, Tour Eiffel, Musée du Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, etc.), as well as to Gare Saint Lazare, Gare de Lyon, Gare de L'Est, and Gare du Nord. Some of the touristic places are reachable on foot (there is a 15-minute walk to the Pantheon, the Luxembourg Gardens, Saint Michel Fountain, and about 20 minutes to the Notre Dame Cathedral), but there are also 3 metro lines (5, 6, 7) and lots of bus lines to go wherever you wish in Paris. Rooms are a bit small, yet very comfortable, clean and welcoming, with a very French vibe. Front desk staff are very kind and communication in English won't be a problem. A special mention for Monsieur Gilles, who was most helpful, even at small hours, since we were leaving at 5 a.m. Mille MERCIS, Monsieur!

The hotel is nice, clean, and conveniently located, close to the metro and shopping center.

I didn't like that they charged €30 for checking in 1.5 hours early. Although, any hotel will make concessions and allow early check-in if the room is ready. It was doubly disappointing that I needed to check in early due to feeling unwell, but the staff apparently lacks compassion.

Lovely hotel with charming and welcoming staff. The location, just feet from the Place d’Italie, is perfect for getting around Paris on the metro. The neighborhood is comfortable with excellent restaurant choices close by. We were bicycle touring and the staff, Fila, Giles, Stefan, and Fan couldn’t have been more gracious, kind, patient and helpful for all of our needs. Although I speak passable French, my partner does not and they went out of their way to ensure her comfort. Breakfast each morning was really a treat and having an electric kettle-coffee service in the room was really nice when we woke very early because of jet lag. We were incredibly comfortable and plan to make this our base on future trips to Paris.

We had a nice time at this hotel. The staff is very nice and friendly. Breakfast had everything what we needed. Very delicious bread and croissants! The room was typical Paris style, small but cozy. Location is right next to the metro and has a few cafes and stores nearby. Overall we were really satisfied. The only bad thing was that we could hear everything from other rooms and hall. It could have been quieter. Thank you!

We stayed for one night. The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable and the staff was great. Super friendly, accommodating, and ready to help. Would stay again!

Rooms are a good size compared to other hotel rooms in the area. The service was wonderful. Great value for the price.

All in all, I think owners and staff made the best out of what is given. It is a rather old building, which comes with certain conditions. The walls are thin, bathroom and toilet are separated, and due to the narrow yard and the size of the neighbouring buildings, the room doesn't get much sunlight. I stayed in a room facing the courtyard for 5 nights. The receptionists were all kind and greeted me with a smile even in the early morning and late night, and I felt relaxed when I returned to the hotel. It is close to the station, has 3 subway lines, a large shopping center, and a convenience store that is open relatively late. The security is good and I can stay there with peace of mind. The hotel is in a Paris-like town, but beyond the Italian Square there are many modern buildings and an interesting townscape. The laundry is also 1 minute to the right after leaving the hotel. The breakfast is also delicious. They were well aware that Japanese people often request rooms with 2 beds lol. After getting off the elevator, you have to walk about 10 steps, but the steps are small so it's not a problem. There is no refrigerator, so they kept the butter I bought. There is a clean kettle, so you can make cup ramen. There were 2 bottles of water. The shower water pressure and temperature are perfect. I will stay here again!
