I had requested a quiet room upon check-in and asked if I could extend my stay by one day. Upon entering the room, there was a considerable amount of noise coming from outside due to construction going on across the street. I wanted to cancel the extension, but the hotel management refused. It was outside noise, and they couldn't do anything about it. They said a room at the front would also generate a lot of street noise. So that was pointless. I consider this poor treatment.

What a pleasure it was to stay at this hotel. I was a bit skeptical at first , as I lived in Düsseldorf for a long time and used to know the original old Breidenbacher Hof very well. But I was impressed and happy , the minute we walked in . This hotel is run with precision , care and professional hospitality attitude ! While the city center of Düsseldorf , especially the Alt Stadt, is clearly suffering from neglect and cheap shops and sad food options , this hotel stands out! It is indeed a 5 Star hotel that earns every single one of them !

I don’t typically leave reviews like this, but I feel compelled to share my experience due to the shocking treatment we received. My four-year-old daughter urgently needed to use the restroom, and the staff at this hotel outright refused to let her in. I understand policies are in place, but what harm would it have caused to let a small child use the restroom at a so-called five-star establishment? The doorman physically blocked us from entering, which was not only unnecessary but incredibly DISGUSTING.
My brother, who has worked in the hotel industry for over 15 years at prestigious properties in the US, Netherlands, and UK, was appalled when I shared this incident with him. A five-star hotel should reflect compassion and hospitality, not such a lack of humanity. This experience left me deeply disappointed and disheartened.
We will also make sure to advise our family and friends against choosing your hotel when they visit the Christmas markets. Hospitality is about more than just luxury—it’s about kindness and consideration, especially during the holiday season.

It's very hard these days to find a high quality hotel that also feels special. Most 5 star hotels today are owned by a few holding companies and have the same modern but cheap and impersonal aesthetic. Breidenbacher, however, brings me back to the days when going to a hotel felt special, with great service, great amenities and location. Would highly recommend and would definitely go back.
