Great location in central neighborhood of Koln with lots of restaurants and bars around. I walked here from the train station, no problem.
Breakfast buffet is really good. Not just the usual juices and breads but many warm and cold choices to pick from.
Staff is generally willing to help and speaks English well (this is not always the case here)
The bad:
My room was really noisy until 3-4AM, given that it was facing a very busy small street with bars and clubs. Couldn’t sleep at all. The safe in the room also didn’t work but that got fixed while I was out for dinner.
I was able to change rooms the next day with the help of AMEX, which should be more quiet, but now the shower is barely trickling (first room almost had too much pressure).
So all in all, some good points but definitely some areas to improve as well!
The breakfast spread is wonderful, large with ample choice, in a spacious and comfortable restaurant. There is a small carpark below the hotel, which was always full during our stay, but thanks to that we found out that there is a much bigger and cheaper carpark (Parkhaus Am Friesenplatz) right across the road from the hotel. The hotel staff are polite, but also rather distant and aloof, lacking warmth (German style). Overall, this hotel is certainly recommended.
Our beds were super-comfortable and ensured a restful sleep. The stylish design and comfortable furnishings of the room created a real feel-good atmosphere. The halls of our floor were nicely decorated with urban art. Each floor had a different theme.
The staff was kind and helpful. They also served a fabulous breakfast buffet, which was included in our rate. Also, at weekends, breakfast time was extended until 12:00 pm, which gave us some extra time to sleep.
As a new member of Hyatt, at first they are not very familiar with Hyatt benefits.
But when they make it clear, they kindly upgrade suites for me and give me access to the lounge. The staffs are very kind and patient.
The location is also very good, close to the city centre and U-Bahn.
