Hotel Senator in Dortmund

My stay was a nightmare. I needed to go to a hospital in Dortmund to visit family and unfortunately booked this hotel. The mattress was very thin and uncomfortable, I could feel the slatted base underneath, which was also broken and incomplete. I couldn’t sleep at all. The sheets were not clean, which was disgusting, but I had no choice. There was no receptionist, and since I arrived late, I couldn’t book another hotel to avoid this one. Don't trust Do NOT go there.

Was trouble with checking in. The lamp at the bathroom was not working at all, and the window almost fell out when we tried to open it. The bed was okay.

Not a great place, room smellt funny, bathroom sink was clogged, no breakfast buffet as advertised and very little customer service.

Not a great area. I walked into my room the first day and it was not cleaned from the person who stayed there previously.

Extremely disappointing experience. We were left waiting outside for 2 hours—no one answered the door or responded to our messages on Booking. When we called the listed number, it was redirected to a line in New York. We were put on hold for over 10 minutes, and the customer service was incredibly unhelpful. They told us we’d be connected with a representative in Dortmund and that someone would meet us within 30 minutes. No one showed up. We called again, got stuck in the same long hold, and were told again that someone would arrive within an hour. Still, no one came.

The entire time, we were standing outside. The hotel's location isn’t ideal—it felt unsafe, especially while we were waiting. Two other people arrived during that time and ended up having the same issue.

In the end, we gave up and went to the nearby "a&o Hostel Dortmund Hauptbahnhof," where we had a great experience.

To make things worse, our phone bill showed 70 euros in charges for the calls to New York. We were kept on hold with repetitive music for over 20 minutes, and we were billed for every second.

The way we were treated was unacceptable, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I kindly asked twice to refill the shampoo and body wash but they never did. The lady in the reception desk does not speak english. After 10pm the reception is closed and if an emergency happens you cannot contact with anyone from the staff. The sheets were dirty with marks from previous guests and the bed next to mine had hair on it from previous guests. Breakfast is available only for 2 hours from 7am-9am. Last but not least if you consider the price of the room i will definitely avoid this hotel next time.
