We stayed at the Arkaden Hotel in October 2025 as part of a larger group who had booked a considerable number of rooms in the hotel.
The hotel is well located in the centre of Kelkheim close to the shops and railway station. The reception was not staffed at any time and check in was via a lock box, which was not what was advertised on the listing. At no time during our three night stay did we see a member of staff. I am uncertain how you could summon assistance or whether there was actually anyone on site! Given the number of people due to check in, I was surprised that the management had not been able to arrange for a staff member to be at reception.
The room was clean and bathroom was recently refurbished, the beds were clean and comfortable but otherwise the room was dated with mismatched length curtains, a worn out wardrobe and foam falling out from underneath the chair.
The hotel served a purpose and was a well located base for the weekend, but otherwise was a bit disappointing. It’s functional but could certainly not be said to be an attraction in its own right.

Room supposed to be nonsmoking stinks terrible 😞. Disgusting. Clean but stinking unbearable. Stinking bed sheathed have been washed and ironed, location gets a star but loud at night (3 Windows open to survive).

We had booked a triple room at the Arcade Hotel due to the proximity of the Kelkheim clinic, where our son had to undergo a hernia repair. We drove and arrived at the hotel at 11:00 a.m but the hotel Reception hall was closed. Upon reservation, no one had sent or explained to us, any text message to help us collect the keys. After calling with our handy, a hotel maid who spoke very little English & German arrived and showed us the triple room, which was, according our previous phone reservation, supposedly spacious and quiet, even though it was tiny, noisy, dark and overlooked the high street. We also noticed the poor bedding and the general state of the hotel, not to mention the garage, which cost €15 per night, and took over 15 minutes to open! We then cancelled our three-night reservation at this unpleasant hotel and moved to the Post Hotel, located 150 metres from the clinic. The welcome of Arcade hotel is very unfriendly.

Outside for 20 mins when I arrived as no-one working. No hot water for 2days and counting. The manager still hasn't even called the plumber. I had surgery across the road and had to suck up cold showers. I called up to get an icepack frozen but they went home at 2pm and couldn't. I threatened to complain to the surgeon and they brought one a few hours later. Top tip : buy some frozen peas if you're having surgery. Poor breakfast. The scrambled eggs look and taste like they've been there days. I swear 90% of the time even in the day there is no-one on reception. Management are lazy and incompetent. Cleaner and breakfast staff are nice.

Probably the worst hotel that I've stayed in in the last 30 years. Think 1970s Travelodge in the UK. Tired decor, very strong smell of drains, no-one ever on reception, overcharged for an extra night and no response to follow up communications. We also paid for breakfast but one day the breakfast room was simply closed up. Seems like an organisation which is waiting to close down.

It's a fairly cheap small hotel, so I wasn't expecting five star standards. The service is bordering on nonexistent apart from cleaning the rooms and changing the bed if you want that done. When you arrive after a long journey, there was no one in the reception and it took me a long time to realize that you have to phone to get someone to come to the reception, and you then have to wait for them to come and bring you the key. The room was very dated. However, i'm giving it three stars as the bed was comfortable and the radiators worked well and the shower produce hot water even if it was a bit pokey. So it had the essentials.
It's a pretty uninteresting town, but the hotel is well located in the town centre adjacent to about half a dozen restaurants and coffee shops within one and three minutes walk from the hotel and a large supermarket across the road.
It's the type of place you would stay in if you have a reason to be in the town rather than in frankfurt. But it's not really a holiday hotel or a holiday location.

I checked in on January 21st 2025, stayed 5 nights, checked out on the 26th. The reason for my stay was that I had to get a hernia repair operation at a clinic across the street.
The Arkaden hotel served as a place for me to convalesce until I was well enough to travel home to Ireland. It met those needs well. The accommodation was basic (no frills), but it was clean, warm, comfortable, the staff were nice and the place is located centrally beside the market square in the town of Kelkheim in Germany, about 25 minutes from Frankfurt city and Airport.
If you're looking for an affordable place to stay, while you spend your time and money in the picturesque surrounds, then you couldn't do much better than this.
The cost of my stay for 5 nights was €400 (€80 per night). For that I had a private and spacious single room with comfortable bed, television, good fast Wi-Fi, a bathroom and a continental breakfast each morning. House keeping cleaned my room and replaced the towels daily. The only thing that bugged me was that the room had no kettle ( the room description said there was one), so I bought one for €8 in the near by Woolworths.

Disgusting!!! This hotel is unbelievable, I hate IT. Nobody is cleaning the rooms, everything is dirty, I feel uncomfortable, eveything itches on me, cleaning stuff should come back to their country, because they don't care, so I don't care writing this opinion. This is my first opinion in my life, so I have to give this hotel 1 star, I don't know how to give zero stars!
