Dormio resort Eifeler Tor in Heimbach

We had a lovely week at Dormio Eifeler Tor. The park itself is well maintained, has a nice pool to cool off on hotter days and also a good selection of bakery items / coffee to go for the mornings, making for a comfortable stay.

For kids - ours range in age from 0 to 7 - there is plenty to do even though the park is on the small side. We made good use of the pool, the soccer cage and the two playgrounds and also did some of the fun and entertainment activities. The Mio stamp adventure also was a big hit and - like most entertainment activities - free of charge.

Location of the park is beautiful, with nature walks / wild parks and lakes in the close vicinity, making it easy to explore the Eifel. Day trip to Phantasialand is also easily doable.

Few cons: (1) the houses are aging and you can tell. Our dishwasher broke down. I have to offer big compliments to the way it was sorted / the maintenance officer came by multiple times until the issue was fixed and was really friendly. (2) Houses are not super well isolated, meaning that they are quite loud indoors across the various floors. I suspect the same may be the case with noises from other houses, we however paid for a specific location preference and that was well worth it as our cottage was relatively free of neighbours / the ones we did have were quiet.

We had a great time and will definitely return again!

Great resort on the outskirts of Heimbach, with an amazing view over Hasenfeld village. Great base for cyclist ready to do some climbing (❤️ climbs to Mariawald, Schmidt, and Kermeter). The resort is very kid friendly, which, unfortunately, led us to wake up every morning around 5 AM due to crying babies 🤣. Supermarket on premises was OK, better to go to supermarkets in Hasenfeld.

There was some confusion when we arrived
We arrived late, so there was a bit of waiting to get the directions cleared, but once we got into contact with the reception by phone, things were sorted out. It would have been better to have personnel at the desk at all times, but that's the system they applied. The houses are situated on a hill, so the drove down and up can be challenging if you're not used to it, but it is definitely part of the charm.

The houses are big and there is enough space for 2 families the least. The view is beautiful and it's so peaceful. Great facilities and walking routes in the area to visit the village in the valley. There is a big lake nearby, and the valley has a beautiful castle. It's definitely worth a visit and great for families with small children and even teenagers.

The location is hugged by mountains, giving a breath taking view from the balcony. The apartment is plenty of space, with bedrooms and a bathtub.
Kitchen is equipped with plenty of glassware and tableware. It is a dishwasher and they give you a few tablets to use. The stove is large, and the pans and pots are enough to make a good meal. The kitchen is with a kettle, coffee pot, coffee machine and a toaster.
We appreciate the large sitting area and dining table.
There is a supermarket (Netto, edeka) about 10 mins drive.

Excellent resort. Highly recommended.

The surrounding is so serene and peaceful. For a winter vacation it is also suitable as there is indoor playground and swimming pool. What I like most is there is supermarket in the resort which make us convenient to grab basic needs. Also their fresh bakeries from the market itself! Awesome trip for a big family :)
