My husband and I spontaneously booked our wedding anniversary trip to Santorini and reserved a room at this hotel upon arrival. We chose a larger and more expensive room because it was our wedding anniversary and we wanted to treat ourselves to a comfortable and special stay.

Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the experience became increasingly uncomfortable.

1. A supposed “upgrade” that was actually a downgrade

The hotel owner welcomed us kindly at first and immediately offered us a free upgrade.
Since we had booked on the same day and were aware of which rooms were still available, this offer felt suspicious. When she showed us the “upgraded” room, it became clear that it was actually a much cheaper room that she tried to sell to us as an upgrade.

Even after we pointed out that the room was around €500 cheaper, she insisted we take it and was very pushy about it. Only after we declined multiple times did she give us the room we had originally booked, accompanied by comments like why we would need such a big room in the first place.

2. Unprofessional behavior & lack of privacy

The check-in process took over three hours.
The owner crossed several personal boundaries her Communication was intrusive, passive aggressive, and disrespectful, even though she tried to disguise it as polite.

3. Issues with room service & disregard for dietary preferences

Ordering dinner turned into another stressful situation. She was difficult to reach by phone, and when we finally managed to order, she insisted on choosing a dish for me. As a vegetarian, I politely ordered Falafel. Despite this, the pasta dish I had declined was delivered to our room. Again, this felt disrespectful and controlling.

4. Room location & misleading information

The following day, we noticed that our room received almost no sunlight due to its layout.
When we kindly asked if there was a possible solution, she reacted in a passive aggressive way and claimed all rooms were fully booked.
However, several rooms were still available online. The only room she offered was an upgrade that cost €500 extra per night.

5. Escalation during early checkout

After two stressful days, we decided to leave one day early so we could enjoy the rest of our honeymoon without negativity.
When we informed her politely in the evening, the situation escalated dramatically:

She became loud, disrespectful, and overly personal

She stormed into our room unannounced

She falsely accused us of damaging the room

She yelled throughout the hotel

She intimidated and manipulated us emotionally

Staff members later told us privately that this kind of behavior happens often

We took photos and videos to document everything, as the accusations were completely unfounded. Until this moment, we had barely complained we remained respectful and simply wanted peace during wedding anniversary Holiday.

Final Verdict

Sadly, the hotel had a major negative impact on our wedding anniversary. The service was unprofessional, communication was manipulative and disrespectful, and many things we were told were simply not true. For the price, the experience did not match the standards one would expect from a hotel of this category.

We had a wonderful time on Santorini but only outside the hotel. Our experience inside the hotel was stressful, disappointing, and at times emotionally overwhelming.

We cannot recommend this hotel.

Everything was fine until the owner showed a complete inability to handle any feedback. Their cleaner regularly forgets things like the shower mat and coffee milk, and when these were mentioned very politely, the owner responded by shouting. Up until then, they acted friendly. I’ve never been treated so unprofessionally as a paying customer. Avoid this place at all costs.
