We have stayed in many 3 star hotels in Athens and this was definetly the most cleanest and with excellent reception staff & manager! The dangerous Omonia square is very exaggerated. Its true that there is a lot of immigrants, but we didnt feel scared. If you have traveled in any big citys as London, New York, etc... its no different. The breakfast is a basic breakfast basket, not a buffee, but you get coffee & croisant =) The reception manager was telling us stories from greek mythology and helped us to go in the beatiful lake vougliameni!

Really good considering the price I paid for this room, including breakfast. The staff really stood out, being very attentive and you can tell they are constantly thinking about what the customer wants. They did so when I checked-in, by offering different room options. They did so when booking a time slot for the breakfast (unfortunately still a thing in Greece). They did so when consuming the breakfast. Breakfast itself consists of a basket of bread with several savory and sweet options to put on it. They will provide water, juice and coffee or tea with refills.

The room might be a bit dated, but it is clean and provides all the amenities you will need. I opted for a room at the side of the busy street, since I sleep with earplugs anyway. Did not have any problems with that. It comes with the advantage of being able to sit on the (rather small) balcony later in the evening.

The location is good, with a metro nearby and a quite short walk to the main tourist sites. Some might say the neighbourhood doesn't look that great. I found out that most of Athens doesn't look that great and had no problems walking to the hotel at night (even taking the smaller streets nearby). There are some strange people roaming around day and night though.

Overall: The staff it what makes this hotel stand out. The hotel itself is just good for the price you pay.

I was really very impressed and satisfied with the three nights I spent at the Hotel Vienna, whilst visiting Athens at the end of August 2022… It’s centrally located (close to Acropolis, Sindagma, Monisteraki, Plaka et al) just off Omonia Square and the main Metro Line… My standard double room was specious and extremely clean with comfortable bedding and aircon. The management and staff - especially the gentleman who does night shift at reception are welcoming and hospitable helpful and friendly- it was a pleasure to stay at this hotel. The price I found very reasonable too!

My partner and I stayed at the Vienna for 10 nights. I can't remember ever staying at a hotel with such nice, courteous, helpful and genuinely friendly staff! It was a genuine pleasure dealing with them, even if it was just to pick up the key when returning to the hotel at the end of the day. Whenever we needed something (print out something, book a taxi, ask for a plaster, even ask for the name of a song I'd heard on the street), they were more than happy to help, and also spoke great English!
Apart from that, the hotel is only a couple of minutes away from Omonia square and within walking distance to Syntagma Square. So, yes, it is in a great location. True, the surroundings look a little empoverished, but don't worry, that's just "optics", nothing will happen to you!

Staff is super nice. Unfortunately the hotel is old, very noisy rooms, tiny shower, tiny lifts. Breakfast is super poor.
It is true that the area is a bit dodgy and defo not safe if travelling alone but this is around the streets behind the hotel. Main roads going to the centre through Omonia square are better.
Unfortunately we had a bit of a weird experience when they charged us the stay double. They claimed it was not paid but the travel agency had paid in advance. We want to think it was a mistake from their side....
In general, an uncomfortable experience and will not come back to this hotel.

Fantastic location and great price for being in the centre of Athens - super convenient for getting all around from the Acropolis to all of the bars, cafes and restaurants. Really welcoming reception and hotel staff. Would stay here again next time.

The hotel staff is completely incompetent. There is discrimination based on nationality, which is unacceptable in the work of hoteliers. Everyone just needs to ignore this hotel! Worst place I've ever traveled.

Clean hotel and very good price. A lot of graffiti everywhere but that is all of Athens. Reminds me of Vietnam how shops and restaurants are laid out throughout the city.

Very helpful staff. Conveniently located near omonia. 5 mins walk to the metro station. Lots of restaurants and eating joints nearby. Rooms are average but balcony gives a good view of the city night life.
