Hotel Thissio in Athens

The Thissio View is a very nice hotel and its name is well deserved. The view of the Acropolis from our room balcony was…just wow.

As a first-time visitor to Athens, I found the location to be perfect. It’s a short walk to the nearest metro station and only slightly farther to most of the sights I wanted to see. Having a balcony overlooking Apostolou Pavlou was very pleasant as we wound down in the evening.

The staff at the hotel knows how to make you feel welcome. They anticipated most of our needs and learned our habits, which is one distinct advantage to staying in a boutique hotel.

The breakfast included with our stay was far better than a simple breakfast buffet. We ordered from a menu which was short but I found the options adequate and the meals delicious.

Let me just say as well that the property itself is immaculately clean. While there were some damaged fixtures, nothing at all was dirty

I do have a few notes which would improve the overall experience:

1. The restaurant was not to the level I expected in a property of this type. We ate at the rooftop restaurant on our first day here and while there was nothing wrong with our meal, there was also nothing in particular to draw us back for a second visit, especially with so many other options in walking distance.
2. The cafe seating across the street was a bit unpredictable. On one afternoon we took seats only to find that the cafe was not in operation. On another occasion, we were able to get a beverage but were informed that the kitchen could only serve “snacks”. Neither of these were dealbreakers but they struck me as odd.
3. I wasn’t a huge fan of the bathroom configuration. The jetted tub is nice enough but the lack of a real shower was strange to me. There was a handheld spray nozzle but I would have much preferred the ability to easily take a shower without worrying about splashing water across the bathroom with the lack of a shower curtain. It would also help to mention in the room listing that it is in no way handicapped accessible.
4. The lighting on the balcony was … bright. It goes from full illumination when the staff is on duty to completely off when they go home with no ability for guests to control the brightness level. That brightness detracts from the atmosphere as well as the beautiful view.

Overall, I would most probably stay here again. If they resolved the issues I mentioned, especially the bathroom and the balcony lighting, I would come back with no hesitation at all.

It's an awesome stay. Have had relaxing time sitting at the balcony overlooking to the great acropolis. Nice view and such a strategic location to all sightseeing places. Hotel owners personalized reception is impressive.

Perfect breakfast, very nice and kind people, always ready to help and make sure the guests have a great time. keep up the goob job guys.

Great location. The staff was very helpful and kind. The breakfast was very good in quality and portions. Rooms are good and well equipped. Not having a helpdesk 24/7 can be somewhat uncomfortable for some people. Overall a good experience; will stay again

Great location and service. Quiet, but we were there off-season. I think it might be noisy during high season as the strip it’s on is full of restaurants with street patios.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They accommodated our early arrival and were helpful with what was in the area.

Lovely room, incredible views of Acroplis Pantheon and other sites. We had corner room, bed was very comfortable. We canceled another hotel to stay here again.

This property was convenient and close to attractions…Acropolis, Monastiraki Square, shopping, transportation. It was easy to walk places. Lots of restaurants were nearby. It was quiet. The balcony in our room was great. Fabulous view of the Acropolis and surrounding area. The rooftop restaurant- The View, was very good. The breakfasts each morning were wonderful. Lots of options. All staff were friendly and very attentive. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Our stay was absolutely perfect. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We loved the food, and the service was top-notch. Great views of the Acropolis and a perfect neighborhood. Super close to the metro and walkable to nearly everything. Honestly, we can't recommend this place enough.

Simply amazing. One of the best locations if you want to immerse yourself in ancient and modern Athens. I wish I had booked a couple of more days in Athens because of this hotel.
