Argo in Thessaloniki

Stayed one night at Argo Hotel—decent for the price, but the shared bathroom was a dealbreaker. Next time, I’m choosing a hostel. In general needs demolition, the place is a total mess.

A very basic, budget hotel. I shall not be harsh as it very cheap in the height of summer, was very located, 800m or so from the international bus station and around the same to the sea front) which is a superb walk). The staff were very kind and helpful and spoke good English, but it is very dated, not so clean, but thankfully my room was on the second floor of the side street, so I escaped most of the street noise which was drowned out by the excellent air con. Twin room en suite at £30 a night in July. Absolute bargain. The bakeries around there were superb.

Stayed here for 4 nights. The staff were so friendly and made us feel at home. The only downfall of this hotel is the bathroom and location. The bathroom looked like a built in extension. The shower is literally just attached to the wall with no doors and 2 drains in the ground - this causes the entire room to turn into a wet room. Toilet seat, sink and the entire was soaking after a shower. The location is great in terms of being a 10 minute walk to the square but we had a room facing onto the main road which was extremely loud. The doors are quite thin meaning that a lot of this noise got in. I slept with earplugs in but even then I could hear the cars driving and beeping their horns at all hours of the night, although this is not the owners fault. On our last day our flight wasn't till late so the staff kept our bags behind the desk for us free of charge which was lovely. It's a good hotel if you are only staying for a couple of nights.
