Philippion Hotel in Thessaloniki

I stayed at this hotel with my family during the winter holidays. The hotel was extremely dirty and the conditions were scandalous. The bed had old springs and the room was dirty; the furniture was covered in dust. As for the staff, they were rude, and the breakfast was very poor, with food that looked stale and was inedible. This hotel not only does not deserve 3 stars, but even 1 star is too much. In my opinion, they should pay you not to stay there, rather than you paying so much money for such miserable conditions.

The hotel was terrible in every possible way. Extreme poverty in all aspects: the food, the behavior of the staff, who only cared about taking your money in advance; walls full of dampness and dirt; a disgusting bathroom; towels that looked 100 years old and yellowed; extremely old and very dirty carpeting on the floor. On top of all this, there was an unbearable amount of noise outside, with insects and metal cans clashing, and dogs barking all night long. In short, this hotel is for animals, not for people.

We had planned to stay at this hotel for three nights because of the end-of-year holidays. We relied on the photos and made the reservation thinking the rooms would look like those in the pictures, but they were not even close. We were surprised that as soon as we arrived, the hotel asked us to fill out several forms with our personal details and also held a full prepayment for all the nights. The conditions were scandalous and miserable. The internet on our floor did not work at all, the room was not clean at all, and the blanket had a very large stain. I spoke to the cleaner to have the blanket changed, and she told me they were short on supplies.

In any case, when I went to take a shower, the water came out completely yellow and there was very little hot water—it would alternate between hot and cold. On our floor, outside, there was constant banging noise, and we don’t know where it was coming from. We complained to the reception, and they refunded us a ridiculous amount of money, just to justify themselves a little.

I went there for the pool and the lifeguard was rude to us. From everybody there, he only asked us to go take a shower before we enter the pool because no sunscreen is allowed when everybody was wearing sunscreen literally in front of him. Idk what’s that discrimination we didn’t do anything out of ordinary, he must have had some racist thoughts perhaps.

They say it’s a 4 star hotel but I say it’s more like a 2 star hotel. The rooms are clean but full of mosquitoes and bugs, the bad is uncomfortable, you better sleep on a stone. If you stay in the bad the air conditioning hits you directly in your face. Although the view is amazing and the stuff is friendly. Ps. They have free shuttle to center of Thessaloníki and back every 30 minutes.

When we booked this hotel for our 5-day school trip we were very excited...When we arrived our feelngs changed. For starters the rooms are not renovated as stated. They are small, with old rugs and not enough plugs. I've searched and searched before i could find somewhere to charge my cellphone. None the less, that was a matter of lesser importance. The most important and worst thing ever was the fact that during the 5 days we spent there only few of our students had hot water for bathing. As one can understand, hot water is the least you can expect from a hotel!!Although we complained again and again, we kept hearing again and again that there was a problem and that it would be fixed soon enough. Did you see it fixed? Nor, did we. And then there was the food. We payed for half-board in a 4 star hotel and we expected as much. Our students complained from the start, but since we (the teachers) found it adequate at start, we thought that the students were just picky with the food. And then at our 3rd dinner the chicken wa half roasted!!!We called the chef and he tried to reroast it. Tried....because he brought it again half roasted...unacceptable... The only thing good was the landscape, since it is located in the forrest.
