Grand Jules Boat Hotel Budapest in Budapest

I stayed at the Grand Jewels Boat Hotel for 6 nights/7 days with breakfast included, and unfortunately, I left very disappointed. I had booked a standard hotel room, but the one I received was extremely small – you can barely move around, and there’s no real space for luggage. With two people and two suitcases, it feels impossible. The room had no bedside tables, no desk, no surfaces to place belongings on (only a tiny spot above the fridge), and the fridge itself couldn’t even be fully opened because it was tucked into a corner.

The condition of the room was also very poor. The walls and ceiling were old, stained, and damaged. The bathroom was even worse – with strange yellowish-red stains on the toilet and shower walls. The whole place felt neglected, with spider webs all over the room, hallways, and even at the entrance. Bugs, spiders, and flies were everywhere. The wooden structure of the hotel is deteriorating, and it doesn’t look like proper maintenance or cleaning is being done.

Basic amenities were also lacking. There was no hairdryer in the room (and only a few available at reception), no electric kettle (apparently they only have two in the whole hotel), and almost no accessible power sockets since one was taken by the fridge and another by the TV. There were no sockets in the bathroom at all.

Breakfast was the only positive aspect. It was fresh, simple, and enough to start the day. They had eggs, sausages, some vegetables, and a selection of cheeses, butter, and breads. Not much variety, but still okay. They also offered lactose-free milk, which was a plus. However, some of the fruits were old, and the options were quite limited overall.

In the end, the experience was very disappointing. The hotel is outdated, poorly maintained, and uncomfortable. With all the issues – from the room’s condition to the lack of cleanliness and basic amenities – I completely lost interest in this place. I wouldn’t stay here again and can’t recommend it.

I am a guest staying in Room 104. I am writing to complain about the breakfast service today and hope for a proper resolution.

At 9:15 a.m. today (July 21st), when I went to the restaurant for breakfast, I found that the vegetable section was already empty. At first, I saw the staff in the pantry and thought they were too busy to replenish the food in time, so I waited patiently. However, even after an hour, by 10:15 a.m., the vegetable section still had no new supplies. I asked the staff for the reason. There were still many customers in the restaurant at that time, but they said, "The meal service is over." Yet, more guests kept coming in afterwards, and there was hardly any food left on the tables.

The receipt provided by the hotel clearly states that breakfast hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. We were dining within the specified time, but encountered issues like insufficient food replenishment and early termination of service. This not only ruined our dining experience but also caused dissatisfaction among many other customers present.

During this trip and our stay, we were satisfied with the service in the previous days. It is only the breakfast issue today that has left us disappointed. To ensure a better experience for more customers, we earnestly request the hotel to take this matter seriously, improve the relevant services, and give a reasonable response to this incident.
