Bastion Hotel Budapest in Budapest

You would expect more from **** hotel. No food or drinks available. At night you need to wake up receptionist to get inside. Stairs dangerously right behind doors. Good central location

Overall, an OK experience. We booked 6 nights here to explore Budapest. The hotel was conveniently located, just around the corner is a large metro station.

Staff is OK. We encountered 5 receptionists, 2 of them were really friendly and helpful. The cleaning lady was also friendly.

The room was fine. Air-conditioning with settings we could adjust, very pleasant. I needed some time to get used to the hard matrasses though. One light went out during our stay which needs to be replaced. A decent amount of water floods to the floor when taking a shower.

Housekeeping is a bit strange; sometimes we got towels replaced by floor towels, one day we found the garbage bag in the bathroom and they took our hand soap when it was clearly not entirely used and didn't replace it.

The breakfast was decent. However, the tables were loose and there were not enough tables to host all guests at the same time. At some point, some guests needed to wait until they were able to get a table.

We only needed the hotel for breaks and to sleep at night and it was fine for just that, but we were expecting more based on the photos we found on Google and booking sites.

The staff are friendly, but we got so many problems since when we arrived here. The rooms that we reserved were not available (overbooked). The rooms that we got was quite small and the bathroom floods when you take a shower. Besides have a plastic curtain. My experience was not good, unfortunately, and everything was different then we were expecting. The breakfast is good, with many pastries, breads and hot foods. The tables were loose, making eating a hard task. There are a low number of table avaliable to have breakfast. The location is really good to enjoy the city.

The Hotel cannot provide the bare minimum required for a decent stay: a comfortable bed. The beds (and we tried several different rooms) are all hard as a rock. I've spent hundreds of nights in probably over 150 different hotels in the last 20 years. NEVER ever did I have to leave the hotel. Last weekend I left in the middle of the night. The hotel next door had regular comfortable beds. Just like you'd expect it.

Don't go to the Bastion Hotel - it will ruin your stay in Budapest.

Appalling! Pictures being shown are all an deception. The actual condition of the room was just about manageable for two nights. Beds were as hard as prison beds, bathroom had cobwebs and the toilet was disgusting, shower had a leakage and the hot water remained lukewarm. Once we had complained about the hot water, they couldn’t care less and blamed it on guests bathing all at the same time reduced the temperature of the water. Reception was just about helpful but the service was very basic. Only good thing about it is the location. Highly recommend not to stay here.
