Hotel Papillon in Budapest

My recent stay at Papillon was highly disappointing. Despite being advertised as a 2-3 star hotel, the experience felt more like a 1-star guest house. The bed was broken and noisy, making it impossible to sleep. The shower box was in disrepair with fungi growth around it. The towels provided were old and discolored.

Additionally, there was an unexpected issue with the air conditioning. While my booking mentioned that air conditioning was included, I was charged 8 euros per night for it during checkout. This charge was not communicated clearly in the reservation or policy section.

Overall, my experience was far from satisfactory. I hope these issues are addressed for the benefit of future guests.

There was one small towel for 2 people and they were never giving us a second one. They never cleaned the room in 3 days. We had to pay extra for the air conditioning. Most of the staff didn't speak English. No soap or shampoo.

This was by far the worst hotel I have stayed in with my entire family. In some of the rooms, charging does not work because some of the cables have broken off. Also toilets and some items are a bit broken. Rooms are often very small and not well equipped. The breakfast was not edible. There was only the cheapest of the cheapest. The lunch was also extremely inedible. The food was bought from the supermarket and reheated in the oven. In the kitchen is not freshly cooked. In addition, my sister was stolen 100 euros by a cleaning lady, even though she had locked the door beforehand. Some of the staff are unfriendly too. I only advise against this hotel!

I recently stayed at this hotel during a week-long trip to Budapest, and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. Although my grandparents stayed there many times on the recommendation of their dentist: Dh Dental. I have noticed a clear decline in quality and service since the last visit in 2018. Upon arrival we noticed that there were only two beds made up in the room, even though we had booked for three people (my mom, my uncle and myself). Additionally, the duvet given to us was yellow and was never changed during our stay, which gave a sloppy impression. The sheet on the other bed had stains, and we even found hair in the shower, even though we hadn't used it. The photos presented on their site are no longer up to date at all. The breakfast, once a strong point of this hotel, has also deteriorated significantly. The quality and quantity of food served was significantly lower than previous experiences. However, the prices remained the same. To make our stay even more unpleasant, I unfortunately didn't take my AirPods with me and left them in the room, and when I returned, they were gone. When I tried to discuss these issues with the hotel staff, I was called a liar because they said they "trust their employees." This resulted in a considerable loss of time, between a day spent at the police station and endless discussions. In the end, I returned home with a bitter taste after this trip. It is also important to point out that the hotel claimed to speak French when booking, but no one spoke the language. Our German roommate also encountered the same problems. Additionally, the staff's command of English also left something to be desired.

Shockingly bad stench in lobby from rancid kitchen. Adverts for escorts in lobby ! Toilet noises coming through two walls and ceiling so horrible for sleep quality. Stains on hallway carpets. Shower room smelled of sewage. Broken toilet seat, and light bulbs. Very neglected inside and out. Hygiene is questionable. Terrible breakfast.....awful restaurant food....serving luke warm watery soup to dental patients who are too exhausted to travel for food. The best thing about this hotel is meeting other dental patients from Europe.
