Hotel Charles in Budapest

Here comes a long but very honest review:

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights throughout the late Christmas to new year period. We expected a room that would look like the pictures but it was nothing like that. We were so shocked… the toilet looked like it came out of the 80s with a string that you could pull down to flush, the faucet was old and wobbly - with a constant clogged drain, there was no door/ curtains for the bath area. Also, there were 1-3 random holes in the bathroom which were really unappealing.

The duvets for the beds were old and made my skin red and itchy, and the kitchen area was a little unclean.

However, the service was clearly attentive and the staff really went out their way to help us…. However, the food in the restaurant was delicious and much better than we expected. I think it would help to market the restaurant a bit more since it was really quiet and I think it deserves more praise than it receives. I also appreciated the new year wine given to us… thank you so much we appreciated it!

The hotel could be easily reached by bus.

We think by remodelling some of your older rooms will give more trust to your customers because we felt deceived by your pictures. We also felt that it was unfair since we paid around 70-80GBP for a night to receive something like this…even for the high season this really wasn’t acceptable.

Overall we had a good time and even though the room wasn’t what we expected, it was big and had a nice kitchen unit for us to make food… and the heating and hot water was perfect.
