Suites WA B1 B2 - Waldorf Astoria Residences - Jerusalem-Rent in Jerusalem

I recently stayed at the Waldorf Astoria for 5 nights, and I have to say that I am bit disappointed by the overall experience considering that this is supposed to be one of the best and most luxurious hotels in Israel. While the hotel and property is undeniably beautiful and historical, and our room was nice, the service was very poor and the hotel is not very well managed. There is clearly miscommunication between the front desk and housekeeping staff. The breakfast at the hotel had very lousy waiters that never checked on our table and it would take us a long time to get their attention just to bring us a bottle of water. During one of our breakfasts, we had to ask a waiter for water 3 times before he remembered to bring it. This unfortunately was not an isolated incident throughout our 6 day stay. The staff are not very well trained, and when they are not waiting on tables they group together and just talk, at times loudly, which doesn't look very professional. There was no indication or signs as to in which dining area the breakfast was taking place which shows lack of consideration for guests, and not all the food at the breakfast buffet was labeled. Also, some of the staff are not very well dressed. Some had wrinkled uniforms, or shirts that were partially tucked in. Not all the napkins at the tables were neatly folded. It looked sloppy. The whole vibe felt unfinished, rushed, and not reflective of what a 5-star, luxurious Waldorf Astoria Hotel should feel like. Another incident that happened multiple times, was that when I was coming back to the hotel, where would be at least 2 staff members at the entrance, and no one ever offered to open the heavy door for me. Again, unprofessional and sloppy for a 5 star hotel....

Another disappointment was the lack of amenities. I have had the privilege to stay at many 5 star hotels, and I was quite shocked that the only bathroom amenities provided were the standard/basic vanity kit and shower cap. Overall, the hotel room was nice, and the hotel was beautiful, but the hotel is poorly managed despite its prestigious reputation, and the staff require much more training. I truly hope that things improve and that the hotel manager changes. I am happy to set up a meeting with the hotel management staff if they would like to hear how they can make necessary changes.

We chose to take my son & his friends a total of 10 people to the Waldorf instead of David Citadel, for the Friday night meal, because the Waldorf offers waiter service. But that was a huge mistake. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen. He came by smiled & didn’t bring our food. He let us sit around & wait endlessly. When it came to desert he was gone for good. The head waiter asked us to move because they needed to clean up for breakfast. He was shocked when I told him that our waiter didn’t bring us dessert yet. It was not a pleasant experience @ all. Never taking out anyone there again.
