New Alexander in Genoa

A 3 star hotel near genova piazza principe station. We stayed here for 2 nights. And our stay is really uncomfortable. They gave us the room 605 and when we entered the room the sheets and pillowcases are clean but when we opened the bathroom there’s this bad smell. The safe is full of dust,everywhere is full of dust (headboard of the bed, cabinets and table). They had air conditioner but it is not working i went down at around 00:30 and i told the receptionist that our AC is not working i told him that with this heat it is impossible to sleep. He changed our room to 602 the AC is working but the bathroom is terrible. Smelly,dirty and black stains all over the bidet. And also dust everywhere. I am sorry but i really don’t recommend this hotel. It’s better to pay a little more and you will be comfortable than staying with this one. Just a special thanks to the girl who was on duty when we checked in she is nice and also the chinese guy that helped us with the AC problem and changed our room.

3 stars?! I do not recommend this hotel. Dirty, outdated. Inside the room hot, no climate control or any form of cooling.

AVOID: Dishonest practices and appalling hygiene Rating: 1/5 My stay at this establishment was a series of unpleasant surprises, ranging from a lack of business honesty to questionable cleanliness. Critical points: Misleading pricing: The website advertises €60, but upon arrival, the price jumped to €85 for a single room. Even worse: I was charged €14 for breakfast (instead of the advertised €7). Attempted double billing: At check-out, the staff tried to make me pay a second time for breakfast I had already paid for. They refused to contact their colleague to verify and wouldn't provide me with a receipt. This behavior amounts to extortion. Poor hygiene: Hair littered the bathroom tiles. Worse still, although the sheets seemed clean, the pillow reeked of cigarette smoke, making sleep impossible. Noise: No soundproofing whatsoever. You can clearly hear the road traffic all night long, as well as every little thing happening in the hallways and neighboring rooms. Poor breakfast: For the price paid, the buffet was practically empty by 8:00 a.m. (even though it closed at 10:00 a.m.) and the quality was very poor. Conclusion: It's a disgrace. For €85, you can find excellent 3-star hotels with professional service. Avoid this establishment, which shows no respect for its guests or basic hygiene standards. NB I could not charge my phone as well cause the input wasn’t working !

This is going to be hard to believe but it actually happened. We booked the hotel for the weekend, checked in, unpacked our bags & went out. When we returned to the hotel a strange man was in our room taking a shower. He had put our clothes, even underwear, neatly away in the closet. He had eaten our food and used a huge knife to cut his weed or whatever it was. He had used my sunscreen to shower. He was obviously on drugs. He had taken a huge dump in the toilet, the room smelled terrible. The man in our room was very polite and vacated the room immediately, moving in to the room next door which was apparntly the correct room. We couldnt stay in our room because of the smell.
We told the hotel reception about what happened and they blamed us, claiming that we hadn't locked the door properly. They moved zs into the new room and acted like all of this was normal. We suspect that their key cards are not working properly, which they are very well aware of. The man accidentally entered our room and assumed it was his, since the key card worked. He probably wasn't bothered about our stuff because he was on drugs.

We contactacted the hotel afterwards multiple times asking for a refund but they never responded.
