Grand Hotel Mediterranée in Genoa

Carpet and the floor in the room and around the hotel, never been cleaned since the romans left Italy. The shower doesn’t fit half of my body, ( my shoes cabinet bigger than the shower) they asked me do u want double bed or 2 singles I have requested for double bed they stuck 2 singles together. The noise was unbelievable from the road outside, you better off sleeping in motorways a lot quieter. Went to have shower the hot water came from Zimbabwe it took so long I thought it would get hot tomorrow at check out time. The key u get u can use that for self defence around the area, if gets bad after 21:00. WiFi only works at the reception it doesn’t work anywhere else around the hotel. I have paid a lot less then €132 for much safer & better places. My advice would be reconsider the title and the price, I stayed at B&B for €50 was a lot cleaner and nicer and quicker and bigger then this.

Bad service, Good Location, Run Down But Clean, Slight Ant infestation.

Short version.
It’s one of those “do as little as possible, take as much as possible” type of places.

I’d choose this place if it was a cheap deal and you just need somewhere to sleep & shower.

Otherwise I’d try elsewhere.

More detail.
The place is old and they don’t keep it in good condition.
If anything is broken in your room don’t expect them to fix it.
If there’s ants climbing up through the floorboards (even though you’ve just arrived so it’s not like it’s you that brought them in) then don’t expect to be moved.

Petty nickel and dime stuff.

I paid for breakfast and there’s a water dispenser.
As I was told to avoid tap water I went back to the dispenser in the dining area for a cup of water before bed.

On my third night the receptionist tells me I’m not allowed to do this and I must buy chilled water from the vending machine.
I ask, “even if I’ve paid for breakfast included and have this same water during breakfast”
He says the area is “forbidden” after breakfast.

At least the ants weren’t on the bed.
The view from the room was nice.

Thankfully once you get out there’s a good restaurant and cafe.
