Hotel Tocq in Milan

There was a fault with our room, it was way too hot but they wknt move us , told us to leave the balcony door open ! But we couldn't sleep as alarms, fights and screaming kept happening right outside the hotel!! 2 sleepless nights!

The service staff was great (for the breakfast crew but not the front of house) and location was within walking distance to most places including the station. However, this hotel has the worst soundproofing. We could clearly hear the other guests entering/leaving their rooms, walking along the hallway and even the guest staying next to us - we could hear their footsteps/ opening their bags!

The worst part is the hotel is located next to a club/bar of some sorts and every night (or early morning) there will be people shouting and talking loudly. The ac is switched off during the winter supposedly for environmental purposes and we had to leave the windows open if not it will be hot and stuffy in the room but it means being subjected to the loud noises from the patrons. We definitely did not have the most pleasant sleep during our stay due to the rowdiness happening right outside the hotel compound.

If you’re looking for restful nights and good service, this is NOT the hotel for you. I stayed here with my family, and unfortunately, our experience was far from relaxing. The hotel is located directly next to multiple nightclubs, so every night from around 1 AM until 5 AM, it was extremely loud. We could hear people yelling and fighting, cars revving, and music blasting outside. I had to plug my ears after the first night and getting a good night’s sleep was nearly impossible.

The service was also disappointing. While the breakfast buffet had a large variety of options, the food itself was nothing special. When we ordered coffees, the waitress seemed annoyed and simply pointed to the machine, telling us to make them ourselves. The concierge wasn’t very welcoming either; they rarely greeted us when we walked in and weren’t very helpful when we asked for restaurant or sightseeing recommendations.

Our room was clean and comfortable enough, but the shower design made no sense. There was no door, so water splashed out all over the floor. The worst part of all was that the water temperature constantly fluctuated. One second it was scalding hot, and the next it turned freezing cold, making showers uncomfortable!!

The hotel wasn’t very friendly or family oriented overall. It felt more like a business style hotel with people getting in and out, rather than a nice place to stay and relax.

Another downside was the location. The hotel is outside the city center, so everything was at least a 20-minute walk away. We often had to take taxis or public transport just to get to the main attractions.

Finally, even basic amenities like bottled water weren’t included. When we asked for water in our room, we were told we had to purchase it; there wasn’t even a complimentary bottle upon arrival.

Overall, this hotel was one of the more disappointing stays of our trip. Between the sleepless nights, unhelpful staff, and inconvenient location, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone visiting Milan.
